The Grey Matter

BandRockFunk

The Grey Matter, whose guitar, slide guitar, keys, bass and drums line-up is heavily reminiscent of the Allman Brothers, derives their arsenal of over 50 original tunes from the diverse sounds of classic-rock, blues, funk, jazz, alternative-rock, neo-classical compositions, and many other genres.

Biography

The Grey Matter began its construction with Sid Briggs bringing bassist Mike Pfaffenberger and drummer Mark Wilkinson together for jam sessions. Shortly after, blues guitarist Liam Gilchrist, previously in a different band with Briggs, joined the group, further expanding the widespread sounds that were starting to define their style. Another year later, the band began hailing itself as the Grey Matter almost at the same time keyboardist Nick Mann joined the group, bringing it to the current five-member line-up. In September 2007, Pfaffenberger left the group to pursue other life goals. Since then, bassist Travis Marshall has temporarily joined the group while search for a more permanent bass player continues on. The Grey Matter is currently in the progress of recording their first album with sound engineer Dave Stipe, owner of Little Rhody Productions. The plan on a tentative release date for April, 2008.
