The Grim Fighting Heroes - Songs on the Edge of Forever (demo, 2005)
Allll righy, brothers and sisters! Back to the good old days of Stooges, MC5 and the lot. Back to the dusty ol’ garage again. Copenhagen band The Grim Fighting Heroes have spent 4 days in Black Tornado Studio with sound magician Ralph Reilly making 15 songs of which only six made it to this teaser/demo. Pretty cool dirty sound on all tracks – the guys can actually play and especially the drummer has a real hard kick in his bass drum. Nice stuff on this demo, and I find the vocals much better here than when hearing the band live. This is full power rock’n’roll without too much crap on the side. One little remark: The G F Heroes have been listening maybe a bit too closely to Love’s cover version of all time classic “Hey Joe” (from the album “Love”, 1966) on their song “Next to You” – it’s nearly the same riff, approach and attack! But aside from that a pretty competent demo from these ass kicking guys who come from bands like The Saints, Pidgeon Party, Neon Machine and Psyched up Janis.

If you dig: Cramps, Stooges – old school garage.
