WhiskeyJazz: -noun [hwis-kee-jaz}
a combined musical style with the rhythm and chord structure of new orleans Jazz and Chicago Blues, the attitude of Punk with intent to go against the clean and high class image. Usually associated with high belting stylistically aggressive solo's and hard liquor.

Biography

with the act formed in 2007 by Thelonious Bajcar, The Grim Preachers have been filling up clubs and parties playing a large array of music. From their early ska roots, the time in the indie punk circut, to now which is a collective of over 20 musicians. With a tight knit core band made up of some of the best underground players and singers in toronto. The Grim Preachers WhiskeyJazz Orchestra is and act fully adjustable to any size of room or hall. From playing burlesque events at the Elmocombo to a weekly show, this act puts it's love and care into it's crowd and learn their stories and even have wrote songs off the fly to what they just learned.

The idea was formed when the preachers wanted to move into the world of jazz (many of us have worked in jazz bands before) but fell short of wanting to pursue when they saw the facade of the upper class domination. So the orchestra set out to put on a show to not hide their class, but to embrace it. Hence the tittle of the newest album "can't wait to be broke". Finding many people live in debt, just to be rid of their debt and have nothing seems like a dream. We take the rose petal cloak of Jazz and bring it into the grim reality of the 21st century.
