The Groovement

In the spring of 2007, guitarist Leland Plumridge set out to find a band capable of complimenting his unique and heartfelt musical style. His reggae influenced guitar, and catchy, sometimes political lyrics caught the attention of high school classmate and bass player Alex Turbett who had recently moved back to the area. After playing for Syracuse, NY based jazz/funk band The Flavour while he was in college, Turbett was anxious to find a new and promising musical project. When it came time to find a drummer, Alex suggested recruiting the help of long time friend Rob Coccodrilli. When Leland heard the steady and often thunderous beats of Coccodrilli, he knew the Groovement was near complete. The addition of Jon Duxbury on Keys in late 2009 finds The Groovement working to create a brand new musical arsenal. They are currently recording, and playing shows throughout the Northeast. Anyone who has witnessed the band’s live show is captured by their enthusiasm and unique musical style. Fans have compared their sound to the likes of State Radio, Sublime, Dispatch, and Ben Harper among others.
