"I've never known the 'Shroom to be the place to go for music, yet I walked in on Friday night to see one of my favorite bands, and I have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised. A fun, funky band, The Grove is comprised of members Ben Hoover, Neema Akbarzadeh, Chris Coleman, Benjamin Garner, Alex Import, Jonathan Meadows and soundman Erik Gonzalez. Well known in Charlottesville, Richmond, and Harrisonburg, these guys provide a vast assortment of sure-to-please jams. Not only is the music good, but the guys are by far some of the nicest you'll care to meet. In addition, the fans they have aquired are far from few and aid in the band's friendly and casual atmosphere. This is one band everyone should try to see. The Grove has grown from six exotic seeds planted by improvisation herself and fertilized by the likes of Miles Davis, Jerry Garcia and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Perhaps better described by the way light dances on water than by any particular genre of music, The Grove has developed an intangibly unique sound. With a repertoire of tight knit original compositions as well as an eclectic variety of cover songs sprinkled into every show, The Grove never fails to create a kinetic atmosphere.
