The Grunts are:

Liam O’Shea – Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals
Audrey Barrett – Bass Guitar/Vocals
James Spillane – Drums

Formed over 5 years ago The Grunts have steadily become one of Irelands most respected Indie/Rock bands. Taking their influences from early U2, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Cure and The Pixies, the bands live performances have earned them great reviews and a loyal following.

Releases to date:

1. A track for the sound track of a snowboarding movie for Switch Films in Sweden (2005).

2. A track on the album Rewind, featuring Damien Rice and the Frames. Currently on sale in HMV record shops in Ireland.

3. A track on ‘Happy Birthday Jesus: The Freakscene Christmas Album’ by Freakscene Records, released in Ireland. Available to purchase in HMV Cork, Plugd Records Cork, Road Records Dublin and online at www.cdbaby.com.

4. The Grunts released their 1st EP, ‘Every Strange Trip’ in July 2008, which received extensive play, locally in Cork on Red FM and 96FM and nationwide on Today FM and 2FM. The EP also had air play on XFM in London.

5. The Grunts released their 2nd EP called ‘Crawl right Back’ in May 2009. It received an excellent review from Alison Curtis Today FM.

6. The bands 3rd EP, ‘Party Weirdo’ was released on Feb 13th 2010 and again received extensive air play on Red FM and Today FM.

7. The band are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album, set for release in September, which will be promoted with a nationwide tour and gigs in London.

TV/Radio Appearances

The Grunts got to the finals of ‘Deisc Roc’, shown exclusively on TG4 UTV. This also included a video which can be seen on our website.

Irish Radio interviews appearances have included Limericks 95FM with John Prendergast and Corks Red FM with Ashley Keating.

London XFM has interviewed Liam, as the front man of the band, live on radio.

Recently, both Alison Curtis and Dave Couse have played our EP ‘Crawl Right Back’ on Today FM.

Since the beginning of 2009 the Grunts have made a strategic move to concentrate on playing gigs in London and have, since March, played Tommy Flynns, Camden and The Good Ship Kilburn, London as well as playing the Cosmic Festival in Colchester at Easter and Madame Jo Jo’s in Soho Sept 2nd.
