The Guilty Ones

Singer songwriters Olivia Slania & Joao Pereira, are one of the UK best kept secrets, having ghost written many a hit and selling their souls to boot, but with the release of their second single and an album already in construction they intend to put this all behind them. Olivia is also creating an album sleeve that will pay tribute to her late father Czeslaw, the world famous engraver of stamps and banknotes! “Dad had a great sense of humour and even featured me on one of his stamps – so I have probably been the most travelled musician in the world!”
As a live band, the Guilty Ones have to be one of the most exciting to emerge from the UK in the last year. Their live performances are a must see - when vocalist Liv takes to the stage, you know that a special band have arrived.

The word has definitely hit the live circuit as each new gig delivers a glut of new fans and followers. Luminaries such as producer Rupert Hine (Rush, Stevie Nicks & Tina Turner), and Smashing Pumpkins music guru Tommy Lipnick can be included in the growing number who respect and enjoy everything about this band.

When embarking on the recording of their album the guys were caught in the crossfire of some of the UK’s hottest producers, including Dave Eringa (U2, Manic Street Preachers), Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight) and a host of others all wanting to work with the band. The result was their album being produced by both; Dave Eringa in London and Mike Crossey at his studio in Liverpool, However in the current DIY climate ... funding is always a big issue, so it was a blessing when James Dean Bradfield from Manic Street Preachers came to the rescue.

James came into the studio and fell in love with the guys’ tracks, insisting that they use his orchestra on ‘Heartbeat’ - a new cut on their album. He invited the guys to his North Wales studio complex and with the help of his personal arranger he added some stunning colour to the album.

If this wasn’t enough, Paul Weller’s brass section heard about the guys, and joined them in the studio, resulting in a spectacular performance on two album tracks.

It seems the UK is starting to opening up to these guys. Having played last year’s Secret Garden Party. They are looking forward to perform at this year’s Liverpool’s Sound in the City, the Parr Street studio lounge, and The Mathew Street Festival. Requests have already come in from BBC introducing supporters Liverpool’s Dave Monks and Manchester’s Sam Walker; we are hoping that 2011 will see them break through onto mainstream radio.
