Bio

The Guilty Party bends the rules. They play a distinctive flavor of roots music with a rhythm that pulses and harmonies that glide over the instrumentation. The band members take turns at the microphone leading songs and the informality brings warmth to the shows.

Party Members:

Julian Weisser sings, strums and writes. He creates compositions in various styles of music and has collaborated with fellow songwriters, bands, and animators. He has performed internationally, solo and with several groups, once opening for The Low Anthem. In the summer of 2010, Julian was selected as an Emerging Artist for the Canadian Deep Roots Music festival in Nova Scotia. Julian is a SESAC affiliate.

Charlie McCanless is a guitar player, singer and songwriter from North Carolina. He has not only performed in the Southeast region, but also internationally. Charlie’s guitar playing is distinctly roots based, but with funky undertones. He has studied with Tomo Fujita, Tim Miller, Scott DeOgburn and Jim Stinett as a student at Berklee. Charlie has been fortunate enough to to take part in numerous musical groups, including Beside the Fire, The Jarvis Street Bluegrass Band, and the Funkanoughts.

Dan Bernfeld plays bass and sings. He has received awards for his songwriting. In November 2010, Dan’s song “Fine” earned him 5th place in BMI’s John Lennon Scholarship contest. Inspired by love and beauty, and fueled by passion, he has been writing songs since the mid 2000's, performing and recording on various instruments along the way. Since birth he's only been living and has aspirations to keep at it for a great deal of time.
