The Gypsy Bravado

The Gypsy Bravado

 Denton, Texas, USA
BandRockJam

Dark, beautiful, haunting, riveting & full of soul. A band that finds avenues to draw on the classic tenets of rock without sounding completely indebted to the past. You can hear harsh modern blues, progressive edge alternative, true rock & waves of psychedelia.

Biography

Forming in early 2008, The Gypsy Bravado originally began as a concept of a new form of modern rock. The band wanted to take the influence of early rock'n'roll greats and add a progressive psychedelic edge, creating a modern sound that stayed true to the footsteps of predecessors but paved the way for something new.

Through the heavy gigging and rock and roll bumps on the road, the group has settled as a four piece with Michael Shawn on guitar and vocals, Brandon Kerth on bass, Mo Myles Oelkers on keys and vocals, and Louis Anderson on drums. As The Gypsy Bravado showcases their second studio EP, they continue to grind on and grind out new and diverse music.

Our music is powerful, riff-driven and explosive. We strive to achieve our goal to be noted as a great live rock n roll band.

Main influences include Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Dead Weather, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Mars Volta and The White Stripes

We've played with talented acts from the DFW and Austin scenes, including: The Effinays, The Criminal Kind, RTB2, The Virgin Wolves, Clone Mike, North of Autumn, The Roaming Soldiers, Ducado Vega, Foe Destroyer, The Hanna Barbarians, Pale Horse, The Neckties, The Kul, NERDFACE, Dead Beat Poetry, and The Red 100's.

RIP Jeff Dacus, forever a part of this band

Swagger

Written By: The Gypsy Bravado

Listen up baby I've got something to say
I've been thinking how I'd break it to you everyday
The way you take this shit for granted tears me up inside
And the stories you've been telling ain't nothing but lies
As time ticked by, I found out
That my heart is empty and I'm so full of doubt
So just give it up girl, I've already thought it through
You've been taking all my lovin', now I want it back from you

Gonna take my love back from you
Watch me take my love back from you

There's so much I could tell you about this life that's still to come
You've been wasting so much time thinkin' you're the only one
Wearing all that make up doesn't cover up the truth
I can see straight through you bitch you haven't got a clue
I can't stand it for one more day
I'm running out of patience darlin' what can I say
You never really listen, but I sure hope that you do
You've been taking all my lovin', now I want it back from you

Gonna take my love back from you
Oh, oh, gonna take my love back from you

Summer Song

Written By: The Gypsy Bravado

In the sunshine of the day
Find the time and take my hand
Come away with me
The sunshine is so bright
Don't let me fade
Into the night

Because I know tomorrow
Never comes around anymore
And I'm pretty sure that
Tomorrow I won't
Be here but I'm here today

The night keeps on closing in
Until midnight
Is all around us
The afterglow is only
The new day
That you will never see

1000 Ways

Written By: The Gypsy Bravado

No, don't ignore me; Listen for me
Do you know what I'm saying to you
It's an issue; I don't trust you
Don't believe what you say is the truth
Will you go out; Will you find out
What the pieces of this puzzle can make
Reveal it; You can feel it
Don't leave it to fate

There's 1000 ways to make your start
There's 1000 ways to break your heart
Just take today and run with it, don't ever quit it
There's 1000 ways but one and you know it

Life, it's a nightmare, but it's out there
And you can't keep livin' afraid
Of tomorrow; You can't borrow
Another day don't give it away
But you ignore me; Don't hear me
Don't know what I'm saying to you
It's an issue; I can't trust you
Why can't you just see the truth
Why can't you just see the truth

Josephine

Written By: Shawn Burgandy and Brandon Pinckard

She's short, she's sexy, she's smilin' at me
She's actin' like she don't notice me
Bright red lipstick and skin tight jeans
Black magic woman and we call her Josephine
What the hell is she tryin' to do to me
She shot me a look that said she was bad news
So I shot one back that said "I don't mind bein' used"

CHORUS
I met that voodoo lady named Josephine
It don't take no crystal ball for her to see
When the band stops playing and the bar stops servin' drinks
She'll have me back home screamin' out Josephine

She said that no man can deny her
And Lord knows she ain't no liar
She really got me on fire

Long blonde hair, heels so high
She's groovin' to the music with my hands on her thighs
She knows what she's doin' and she gets what she needs
The devil has a name and we call her Josephine
That woman must have put a spell on me
She leans back and says to me
I ain't goin' home but darlin I'm ready to leave
(If you know what I mean)

CHORUS

Just when I though I couldn't get much higher
I got to know the girl deep down inside her
She really got me on fire

BRIDGE (INSTRUMENTAL)

CHORUS

And when she satisfied her desires
She took the cigarette from my hand
Blew me a kiss as my door slammed
But damn, she really got me on fire
