"The Spirit of The Scabs - The Handsomes Get the Booties Shaking Austin Style"

Selected Quotes: Full Article available on website.

"They were getting their groove on to The Handsomes, arguably the hottest local band in the city. Heads were bopping to the group's soulful, funky rock; pockets of fans were singing along to every word; and the distinct odor of pheremone-laced sweat hung in the air."

"Mark our words: If the Handsomes manage to score a slot at the 2004 South By Southwest music industry schmoozefest in Austin, the group will turn some heads. "

"But then this is The Handsomes were talking about, a group that is generating the same kind of buzz here that the Scabs drummed up in Austin before Bob Schneider met Sandra Bullock."

- Houston Press, Dec. 2003

"West. U. Musicians Quickly Making Headway in Local Club Scene"

Selected Quotes: Full Article available on Website.

"It’s been just seven short months since the band …got together. Now, The Handsomes are generating a growing buzz in the local music landscape, and are starting to do the same after just a couple of gigs in one of the Meccas of the country’s live music scene, Austin.”

"'The Live show is definitely what sets us apart', Nachtigall says. 'We're out there to get people moving and to get them involved in what's happening on stage.' Often the crowd even spills on to the stage."

"The Handsomes Winner Best Pop-Rock"

Selected Quotes: Full Article available on website

"The band …knows that a bit of the ol' word of mouth goes farther than anything else. Sold-out shows at the Continental, Rhythm Room and Lounge …have proved that.”

- Houston Press, Jul. 2004

"Handsome Crowd"

"About 250 of us cram into the Continental Club on a chilly Thanksgiving night to catch the local quartet the Handsomes. The band's white-boy soul pop draws a hot-assortment of current and future yuppies."

"The band segues from some original tunes into one of their live staples, a ska-infused version of George Michael's "Faith." Based on the their Herbal Essence-styled gasps, rock-jawed guitarist David Nachtigall seems to have caused two women in the front to climax" - Houston Press, Dec. 2004

Bio

The Handsomes flawlessly serve up elements of funk, ska, soul, and pop-rock. The group’s fast-paced music and high-energy live shows have packed houses in Houston, TX since 2003 and are quickly growing in Austin, TX.

After winning their second consecutive “Best Pop/Rock Band” in the Houston Press Music Awards, The Houston Press aptly summarized:

“Massive word-of-mouth and packed (actually, overpacked) shows -- often at the Continental Club and the Lounge -- have certainly paid off for this soulful quartet with their tentacles in ska, funk, and pop. Not to mention a huge fan base that will finally get a record sometime by year's end.

Jordon Blackwell (vocals), David Nachtigall (guitar/vocals), Ben Stark (bass) and newest member Patrick Kelly (drums) have found that small island of confluence between the continents of college rock and party rock.” – (Houston Press, Aug 4, 2005)

The Handsomes recently released their first CD on Christmas Night 2005 to over 540 fans attending their show headlining at the Continental Club.

Mixing many genres in an electrifying show, The Handsomes attract all types of fans. “The Handsomes manage to superglue all the disparate styles above into one catchy, funky, even, um, sexy whole. It's truly something to see and hear.” (Space City Rock, Jan 25, 2006)
