The Hanged Man's Curse

The Hanged Man's Curse is a Texas,Horror- Metal act that is based around the San Antonio and Austin Texas area. Originating in 2012, Lobo Sangre (aka OLO, Orlando Logan Olivero, aka Sangre de Lobo) originally conceptualized the idea in the early 2000s and was finally able to create material for this project in 2011. His love for Metal, Horror, Spaghetti Western movies, Outlaw Country music of the 70s, Robert E. Howard, Lovecraft, South Texas supernatural folklore, and his Hispanic Texan Heritage help build the foundation for what would soon become an established act.

During the mid 2000s Sangre recorded and performed with metal act, Against the Plagues which featured members such as Adrian Adamus (Forest of Impaled), Wojtek Lisicki ( Lost Horizon, Luciferion) and Marco Martell ( Malevolent Creation, Vader). After being signed with Dutch label Vic Records and working with Century Media distro and Plastichead the band sufferred numerous lineup changes and later, stale shows due to this.Sangre left in 2013.

However, in 2012 Sangre had already begun work on The Hanged Man's Curse and developed early material at his small and desolate ranch in South Texas. Sangre formed a group starting with his close friend Borracho on drums, and later the Pastor on bass. His departure from ATP gave him reason to make The Hanged Man's Curse into his main priority.

Shortly after, a quiet, versatile, and talented individual known as El Gran Silencio was added to the fold on second guitars. His experience included playing guitars in several death metal bands in Texas and playing bass in Mexican folk and mariachi acts while in Mexico.The Hanged Man's Curse aimed to develop a new, Southwestern Texas sound utilizing contemporary, death, black, doom and classic metal( amongst other genres).

The Hanged Man's Curse have been described as Southern Doom, Ghost Town Metal, Texas Folk Metal, Graveyard Metal, and Western Metal by fans. Aside from Metal and Country, Sangre's influence also include Bruno Nicolai, Ennio Morricone, and Basil Polidouris. Sangre describes the band as "true" Texas music and states that while there will be imitators "The Hanged Man's Curse will always be be the most authentic and culturally relevant..".

In 2014 , indie label, Terranodon Media released a single on a SXSW exclusive download cardp. Since then, THMC had been working on a 2-song demo while preparing for a full-length album.

In 2015, The Hanged Man's Curse saw the departure of the Pastor and Borracho, but completed their lineup with Thin Shadow on second leads and Estampida on drums. The Sangre has since, switched from guitar to bass. Thin Shadow left guitar due to career-oriented decisions and is now behind the scenes. The Hanged Man's Curse is actively doing shows in the greater Austin and San Antonio, Texas areas.

In 2016 THMC plans to release their first EP entitled " Blood, Bullets, Death and Doom" on their label, Terranodon Media and begin work on their full-length album which has yet to be titled.
