Bio

The Havers formed in 2007 to carry on the individual band members’ shared tradition of playing upbeat Irish/Celtic rock.

Each one of The Havers has come from actively gigging Irish acts – Bob from Philadelphia-based The Barley Boys, Mike B. from The Ex-Patriots, and Mike S. from his long-standing weekly solo appearances at Rare Olde Times in Richmond.

The band’s influences include The Pogues, Bill Monroe, The Clancy Brothers, Dubliners, Del McCoury, Black 47, Young Dubliners, Ceann, Sycthian, Johnny Cash, Great Big Sea, Flogging Molly, Old 97's, Enter the Haggis, Ceann, Blaggards, Gaelic Storm, The Mahones, Avett Brothers, Violent Femmes, Husker Du, Cake, The Who, Ramones, Talking Heads, Pixies, Clash, Green Day, The Beatles, barbershop quartets, hair metal, beer, whiskey, friendly pubs, crowds that dance, another round, an occasional cigar and YOU.

Band Members:

Mike Strutton is an experienced guitarist and music industry veteran, having worked with such artists as Kenny Rogers, Sara Evans, and Diamond Rio, among others. Working and playing in the Nashville and Richmond music scenes, Mike is a sought after studio musician and advisor to some of the regions' top artists. Mike is a commercial vocal instructor, and an avid proponent of Irish culture, politics, and arts.

Mitch Glasgow has been playing and touring actively since the 1970's (yes, he's our most experienced member!), gigging all over VA and N.C. with a variety of different pop, rock and blues bands. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, his ridiculously fluid style and ability to instantly improvise on almost any song prove him a talented stand-out in the local scene.

Mike Baldwin began his professional music career in NYC over 20 years ago when he was hired as the teen drummer for Nickelodeon’s “Don’t Just Sit There!”, a children’s television variety show that ran for three seasons and taped over 200 episodes. Mike has additionally provided support on both guitar and bass through the years, and played with Richmond-based Irish band The Ex-Patriots as their drummer prior to the formation of The Havers.
