Bio
Our band has a grassroots beginning. Dan entered the live music scene by playing open jams at local bars, an incredibly influential and humbling experience playing with the old blues masters of Milwaukee. Dan then brought two friends, Chris Vincent and Bruce Haxton, into the mix and we cut our teeth as The Haymakers at the open mics.
The three of us being professionally trained musicians, our early technical development was enhanced by our ability to read music. Dan’s first instrument was actually a flute. He began playing flute in fifth grade because his Mom was going to sell her flute. He wound up graduating from a music high school in Houston (HSPVA) with a focus on classical flute. Dan didn’t pick up a guitar until ’97, his second year in college, and instantly fell in love with the instrument. Chris has been banging on boxes, pans, and whatever else he can find lying around since he was a youngster. He graduated from UW - Madison with a percussion major. Bruce has been playing longer than any of us, with training on bass and classical guitar. Bruce has played with several different bands and shared stages with popular national acts such as Duran Duran. The three of us together combine to paint a bluesy, jazzy, psychedelic mosaic with a brush of distortion.
Recently, The Haymakers have added another member, Guy Lindekugel, for a bold harmonica sound as well as second vocals.
