"Best New Band Award 2009- The Heartbreaks"
- Manchester Evening News- City Life (Dec 18, 2009) - Manchester Evening News

"Steve Lamacq"

"When lipstick on your collar meets a juggernaught of guitars which veered off the motorway somewhere in the 1980's, that is The Heartbreaks, Jealous Don't You Know" - BBC6Music

"Manchester Evening News"

"The sort of amazing urchin-pop songs which sound like Morrissey and Elvis Costello licking ice creams by Blackpool promenade, while Julie Christie does cartwheels"
- City Life (Oct 16, 2009) - City Life

"Penny Black"

"I just missed out on the Smiths, but in the 20 odd years of gig going since, I can honestly say I have rarely been as excited about a new band as this one. "
- Dixie Ernill, www.pennyblackmusic.co.uk (Jul 28, 2009) - PennyBlackMusic.com

"Manchester Evening News"

"Happy to wear their hearts and intellect on their sleeves, The Heartbreaks trade in beautifully skewed melancholy, proving that boys with guitars can still be poetic, punchy and most of all, poptastic. Fizzy pop brilliance, high on passion, wit and melodrama."
- David Sue, Manchester Evening News (Jul 01, 2009)
- City Life

Bio

The Heartbreaks are all about finding poetry in the bleakest of situations and have been indulging such notions of romance for as long as they can remember. Born and brought up in the coastal town of Morecambe, the four friends, admittedly sons and heirs to nothing in particular, bound to one another through the same passions (Motown, Mod aesthetics, the seaside), jealousies (small town frustrations) and hates (music that said nothing to them about their lives). Forming The Heartbreaks in May 2009, the four members relocated to Manchester with the intention of forming a band that could actually mean something to people... a band to inspire devotion.
