Bio
“Aaron has some of the best phrasing of anyone I know singing songs…There are lines in every song that really floor me. Aaron is big talent." -- Rebecca Martin
The Heavy Love is a melodic Rock ‘n’ Roll ramble of hypnotic electric density, beatnik inflected lyrics, and boisterous guitar. The songs penned by Heavy Love front-man Aaron Berg, reflect a collision between such modern giants such as Radiohead, Beck, Yo La Tengo, and Wilco with the more roots inflected sounds of Neil Young, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan.
The band’s sometimes alt-country flare is bolstered by gritty double and electric basses, grainy late-night guitars, and a driving yet creative expanse of drums and percussion. Across the already heavy eclectic sound, comes a mixture of distorted chromatic lyricism, reverberant country steel, and a thick melodic jangle of Moog and Nord synthesizers, tape delays, acoustic piano, and Fender Rhodes.
Formed in late 2004, The Heavy Love is scheduled to release their debut recording, entitled “Songs For Anna Maria,” in August 2005. Visit www.theheavylove.com for more information and upcoming performance dates.
