The Hensley Ensemble, founded by Elbert Hensley, Jr. has been blessed with the ability to deliver beautiful melodies & harmonies that exude the splendor & brilliance of music to it fullness. This music ministry comprised of singers & musicians from the Dallas/Ft.Worth (Metroplex) has been compared to gospel mainstays, The Richard Smallwood Singers for their classical/traditional sound as well as The Kurt Carr Singers for their contemporary/traditional style that showcases the full range of vocals possessed by this versatile group. Founded more than 25 years ago at Texas A&M University-Commerce, TX. The Hensley Ensemble is committed to the clarion call of this powerful ministry they're blest to have. Not only is this ministry gifted musically, but also all are also strong believers in the power of God and His ability to use them as vessels in this medium of gospel music to reach out to all that God would make available for them to ministry to. Besides the various ministry opportunities that have come through singing in many local houses of worship through out the USA, there have been many doors opened to the Hensley's as they've won 1st place in three gospel competitions namely the Dallas Black Expo, Houston New Artist Showcase, and most recently the John Wiley Price Kwanzaa Gospel Fest and have had the opportunity to work with the likes of gospel Greats; Angela Spivey, Carolyn Traylor, Beverly Crawford, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, Kathy Taylor, Tommye Young-West, Rick Bernard James, Byron Cage, Richard Smallwood, the late Ricky Womack, God's Property, Gaye Arbuckle and opened up for The Neville Brothers, to name a few. Other unique ministry opportunities have come through their performing at the Austin City Limits Blues Festival 2007, cable TV show; "Who's Wedding Is It Anyway?” and featured in exposes on NBC-Channel 5 & CBS 11/TXA 21television stations. Blessings don't stop there, the group met Sylvia St. James (who heads the gospel venues; “The House of Blues” across the USA) and was selected to minister/perform for The House of Blues (Downtown Dallas) in July 2007 for infamous Sunday Gospel Brunch and is one of the featured artist there monthly. The Hensley Ensemble is now prepared to move even higher & take their music ministry & commission from God to another level with the premiere & release of their 1st CD recording entitled, "Elbert Hensley, Jr. presents The Hensley Ensemble - We've Come To Worship". Under the musical & spiritual direction of Hensley and the business savvy of manager, Kent D.
