The Hidden is a collaboration between New Bedford metal titans Gaskill and Boston space-punk weirdos Medea Connection that has stormed out of the gates fully formed and rearing to go. Their music is a dark and pummeling maelstrom in the guise of short, catchy song blasts. The main attraction is singer/lyricist Kevin Grant, whose unique vocal mix of hardcore fury and soaring melody creates a sound not unlike a combination of Danzig, HR, and Morrissey. The Hidden fucks with hard rock convention by taking standard punk and metal riffery and compacting the exploding shards into sharp-edged mayhem. They just finished their second record, "Smash To Ashes", with engineer Steve Albini for Colorado horro-punk label Antidote Records.
