"Michael Chugg"

"a solid, well rehearsed Australian band with huge potential – soaring vocals, catchy guitar riffs and tight drums" - Michael Chugg

"The Hiding's Broken Walls on The Block"

The good news just keeps rolling in for Melbourne band The Hiding, with national prime time exposure only weeks away.

On June 21, their song 'Broken Walls' will, as the appropriate title suggests, be featured during Channel 9's 'The Block'. This is just the latest in a string of events gaining the band greater exposure, both here in Australia and overseas.
As a result of their US endeavors, they recently found themselves added to the playlists of almost 40 college radio stations within a week.

Their self-titled EP, released in April of this year, was produced by Jimi Maroudas (Eskimo Joe, The Living End), and mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers). It is available on iTunes. - Kill Your Stereo

"The Hiding Run City Run"

Upbeat, breezy, and unimaginably optimistic, The Hiding’s ‘Run City Run’ is a cheery blast of indie pop rock laced with electronics and soaring vocals.
The Hiding formed out of a previous band in 2010, following a change in direction, and have had their previous work produced by Jimi Maroudas and mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers).

Opening with a guitar hook that grabs the attention, ‘Run City Run’ powers into the verse like a steamroller; “Watching sunsets make romantic silhouettes / Painting the sky, I ask myself why I’m alone”. The melancholic lyrics are held aloft with the positivity of the music, with influences from Owl City, Yellowcard, Jimmy Eat World, and the anthemic prowess off The Killers, with a chorus that will lodge itself firmly in your brain for days to come. -

"The Hiding- Self Titled (EP) Review"

Melbourne four piece The Hiding have recently released their debut EP, which given the comparative success of the anthemic, textured style of pop rock that they play, it’s an EP with a potential massive reach not only here in Australia, but undoubtedly the USA. Million Miles Away opens the EP with it’s boundless energy and electro rock tinges, whilst 6 Billion Voices sees the band at their most anthemic and a standout choice as a single, well at least for me. Keys/piano play a large part of driving The Hiding sound, but on Waterfalls, guitars and bass take more of a prominent spot, a track that really took me back to the bouncy 90’s pop rock of Third Eye Blind.

Produced by Jimi Maroudas (Eskimo Joe, The Living End) and mixed by Mark Needham (The Killers), the sound of The Hiding is all about atmosphere and space and letting the lyrics and music seep their way into our ears, as opposed to bombarding the listener with a wall of sound. If bands that lyrically have a story to tell against a backdrop of accessible pop rock are your thing, then The Hiding will also be YOUR thing. As an EP, it’s a great introduction to the band and with gathering exposure both locally and internationally, it won’t be long before many more are captured by the musical charm of The Hiding. - May the Rock Be With You

"The Hiding: “Run City Run” a Well-crafted and Nicely Polished Song!"

The Hiding have just released their latest single, “Run City Run”.The song has a fresh feel to it, with lyrics that grab on and don’t let go and a beat that is dance-worthy coupled with a hum-worthy melody. The track leaves the listener feeling delighted with a well-crafted and nicely polished song that is incredibly euphonious, uplifting, and addictive.
The Hiding blends everything good from various crossover pop genres and creates work that is both current and catchy, while being complex and touching at the same time. I’m struck by how their songs can be simultaneously poppy, symphonic, inspirational, and achieve a depth that you would hardly find in the vast majority of pop music out today.

Singer Anthony has such a wonderful way of using words, so intricate and captivating while the sound of the band goes way beyond hypnotic. They somehow give you the feeling of hope and the sentiment of wanting to leave earth a better person – regardless of what your mood is!

With their latest single, The Hiding confirms that they are capable of brilliantly written, modern urban-pop-rock songs. In fact, they are setting standards to how modern rock should be played today. They balance each song with enough twists, diversity and musical hooks, between electronic and guitar driven rhythms, to keep their music on the art-rock side of the equation rather than simple, sweet candy-pop.

These guys really have a different, unique style and flow to their music. Strong vocals and pop charm harmonize “Run City Run” into a great listening experience. At this point their music can only expand to greater heights. Can’t wait for the album! -

"The Hiding Prepare For U.S. Tour With Hot New Single, “Run City Run”"

Four piece, Melbourne based band, The Hiding, is out with a brand new single called “Run City Run”, which was mixed in the U.S. by Mark Needham (Imagine Dragons, The Killers). Fresh off their “Wanting More” EP release in late May, the band has just finished a sweet lyric video for the new single and is finishing up plans for shows in the U.S. later this year.
“Run City Run” is a key track off the new EP. With lyrics about loneliness, regret, vulnerability, and strength, it tugs at the heartstrings, but the danceable, bouncy, electro pop rhythms give this single a positive, forward-looking spin that let you know nothing will get this group down for very long. The Hiding capitalized on the song further with a well-produced lyric video that is both abstract and full of imagery. There’s not so much going on in the frames that you can’t focus on the lyrics. At the same time, it conveys a vague story in the imagery that keeps you watching until the end.
Check it out below, and if you dig it, check out more music from The Hiding and start making plans to see them here in the U.S. this fall. With a great new single, a brand new EP, and a tremendous U.S. college radio station campaign that started this month, it’s looking like The Hiding will be received with tremendous success! There’s no reason you couldn’t be a part of that! -

Bio

The Hiding (Anthony Salce, Ryan Di Cecco, Adrian Perri and Tom Moore) formed out of a previous band in the summer of 2010. This project saw them tour Australia, supporting some of the country’s most respected national and international acts. Due to a direction change, it was at this point The Hiding was born.

The Hiding released their debut self titled EP in April 2012 which was produced by Jimi Maroudas (Kimbra, The Living End) and mixed in Los Angeles by world renowned mix engineer Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons). The two singles from this EP were spun across 140 college radio stations throughout the USA and Canada.
Furthermore, ‘Broken Walls’ was selected to be used on Australian reality TV show ‘The Block’, which was seen by over 1 million viewers.

Some of the band members attended CMJ (2011) and SXSW (2012) to get a feel for what other bands internationally were producing and to generally gain knowledge and learn about the international market.

The Hiding hit the studio again midway through 2012 and followed up their debut release with two new singles ‘Lantern Lights’ and ‘Hopeless Heart’, produced and mixed by Jimi Maroudas. These tracks received radio play on non-commercial stations Australia wide, plus medium rotation on over 140 USA and Canada college radio stations.

The boys were accepted to showcase as part of the CMJ Festival in New York 2012, as well as being selected to perform as part of Aussie BBQ alongside acts such as San Cisco and Flume. The Hiding made valuable international contacts, and picked up insights into the international music scene.

2013 saw The Hiding perform at ANZ Stadium in Sydney, as part of Stone Festival headlined by Van Halen, Aerosmith and Billy Joel. Later that year The Hiding played a sold out show at The Forum supporting New Zealand’s Six60, plus a host of headline shows.

‘Million Miles Away’ made it to the finals of the MusicOz Awards 2013 for ‘Best Rock Song’. The same song was remixed by Italian DJ Haxent, and included on the ‘Hit Mania 2014’ compilation CD (One of Europe’s biggest dance and pop releases).

By mid 2014, they recorded 4 songs produced and mixed by Steve Lightbody. Mark Needham mixed their first single ‘Run City Run’ that is accompanied by a music and lyric video that incorporates cartoon, special effects and real time footage. Overall the song and video has received excellent reviews.

The next two singles will be released in the later half of 2014 including another USA and Canada college radio campaign.
