Bio

The HighLife

The HighLife is a four-piece band hailing from the city of Detroit. Four drinking buddies and former band-mates - Matt Van, Doug Woolsey, Brett Warren, and Brian Pollock decided to call it day and start playing out the common denominator of their musical influences. Originally formed as a back-up cover band for a local female country vocalist, they quickly branched out on their own in order to play originals. Called variously "altcountry" and "southern rock", the boys themselves are not confined by genre and freely add elements of punk rock and traditional Irish balladry.

Their stable of songs expanded quickly after the line-up solidified in June of 2003. In no time at all, these musical veterans infiltrated the Detroit Music scene, drawing a steadily increasing fan base to venues such as Alvin's, Small's, the Magic Stick, The Belmont and Ye Olde Tap Room. Unconfined by the city's limits, the band has hit the road to play cities from Chicago to Toledo.

The energetic live show only enhances the already addictive song styles. Don't be surprised to see them switch from a slow balled to a pop tune to a twanging barn-burner. Because demand for their material is so desperate, their live recorded demo is already popular and circulating rapidly underground. The official studio recording was released in July of 2004.
