"The High & Mighties Deliver!!!"

Bryan Reed (The Daily Tar Heel)

This fantastic CD (Mighty High)gives them the distinction of being a “good ska band playing in an indie rock town.” They have recently released their first album under their official name, Mighty High! The new cd ventures into hip-hop, funk, straightforward rock and pop. Featuring a “horn section that has chops to spare and interweaves in the adept arrangements in a way that most other bands will never achieve,” it is “full of upbeat, uplifting songs” and “does more than it’s share to keep the spirit of American ska-rock alive and well.”
- Bryan Reed (The Daily Tar Heel)

"Incredible reggae rock CD!"

Amazing! “Mighty High” by The High & Mighties is an incredible reggae rock audio journey! Infused with brass arrangements reminiscent of ska, The High & Mighties have concocted a delightful new sound with this pioneering collection! “Anything So Good” takes a turn to the rock side, with awesome electric solos and a groove that is simply contagious! The vocals on “Mighty High” are quite compelling and heart-felt. “Blue Skies” shows off this band’s soothing vocals and artistic lyrics, while “No Matter What” demonstrates their skillful use of brass instruments. What’s more, the production of “Mighty High” is fit for the best! Fans of Sublime and Bob Marley will fall head-over-heals for this collection of reggae rock hits!

Bio

THE HIGH & MIGHTIES
The High and Mighties is a reggae influenced rock band from Chapel Hill, NC composed of players from various groups and ensembles that have been performing in the southeast for the last decade. They strive to create an atmosphere where we all celebrate the experience of the human situation. The inspiration for their material comes from friends, family and their own bands' history. With the sweet overshadowing bitter, their music deals with life, relationships and the pursuit of ever eluding happiness.

A calculated turnaround by Belk in early 2006 - from being a "Sublime" cover band to only performing original material - coupled with a name change gave birth to a family of friends dubbed “The High & Mighties”. After cleaning up their act the new group is fresh out of the studio with the Evolution EP. While pushing their original chilled-out good time message of summertime romance they have won attention and approval throughout the inner workings of the music industry. Their recent signing to the well supported EchoMix Records promises big year of touring, recording and various appearances on the airwaves and in the press.

Singer/Guitarist Mark Belk’s songs inspired by the groups troubled past and boughts of failed “true love” sit well with his fan-base who appreciate The High & Mighties' slickly-produced earworms. Belk has been a reliable face as bartender at the premiere hot spot Top Of The Hill in Chapel Hill, NC. As he traveled the world studying guitar and writing, Belk was blessed by discovering he possessed an inner talent for the envied ability to convey easily relatable story lines penned for the masses. He often brings to life through his reggae-laced rock tunes the “late-nights” in Collegetown, USA.

As the future looks bright with instant college radio hits like “Candy Jar” and “Turn The Lights Down Low” The High & Mighties are entering a new era of luck and success. The High And Mighties will hit the road to give something back their newly won fans and plan a full-length follow-up to their Evolution EP in early 2009.
