The Histrioniks

The Histrioniks

 Baltimore, Maryland, USA
BandPopAdult Contemporary

Alternative rock with female fronted vocals, thunderous bass and drums in the style of B-52's. Blondie, Garbage, The Donnas, Southern Culture On The Skids and Cocktail Slippers.

Biography

"About This Girl", The Histrioniks second CD redefines the band as they move away from acoustic folk and turn toward hard-hitting rock. They retain their darkness but having been to the edge they move a little more toward the center this time out. Their songs are strong, lyrical and layered and with the addtiion of drums and bass they quite simply - rock! While their sound remains unique there are elements of B-52's. Blondie, Ramones, The Who, Garbage, The Donnas, Southern Culture On The Skids and Cocktail Slippers in their music.

Homesick From the Grave, The Histrioniks debut CD has been described as: "Interesting new folk; cool, dark and very mellow. Acoustic girl-goddess rock strangeness. Cativating! Enthralling!", says the panel of four at Hybrid Magazine.
The Histrioniks are an eclectic mix of folk, 60's renaissance, rock, spoken word and instrumental. It is this variety that makes them unique along with their minimalist approach; vocals and guitars.
They began in the summer of 2004 as an acoustic duo. Cat sang and danced for the Baltimore based surf/instro band, The Swiv-o-matics while Larry played drums. The band recorded 3 CD's and is well known and respected in the surf/instro scene.
Histrionik influences range from Donovan, The Jefferson Airplane, Loudon Wainwright, Garbage, Leonard Cohen, and a host of others yet their music sounds very little like any of them. "Homesick From The Grave", their debut Cd, draws much of it's inspiration from an old Get Smart epsiode where Max, agent 86, fakes his own funeral and waits in the wings to see who attends and the degree of their suffering.

Saints In Atticus

Written By: Larry Levy

Verse 1:
Hey, Hey
Black morning, a warning,
She’s after you.

Stay, Stay
Connected, protected,
She’ll infect you.
Thugs are thugs, Saints in Atticus
Hose him down, He got rug’d!

Verse 2:
Hey, Hey
Come back here, I ain’t queer,
I know myself.

Stay, Stay
Don’t leave me, believe me,
I’ll kill myself.
Drunk is drunk, Saints in Atticus
Spill my guts, I was skunked!

Chorus:
Saints…………..,
Saints in Atticus,
Wait……………,
How ‘bout us?

Verse 3:
Hey, Hey
I warned you, she’d scorn you
And keep you bound.

Stay, Stay
She’ll bag you and shag you
And drag you down.

Thugs are thugs, Saints in Atticus
Hose him down, He got rug’d!

Chorus:
Saints……………….,
Saints in Atticus,
Wait…………………,
How ‘bout us?

Verse 4:
Hey, Hey
Untie me, and hide me
No one will know.

Stay, Stay
Don’t junk me, or punk me
I’ve sunk too low.

Outro:
Hey, Hey
It’s my time, on my dime
So get me off.

Hey, Hey
Just kiss me, don’t diss me
Don’t piss me off!

Whisker's A Go-Go

Written By: Larry Levy

Verse 1:
My guy has an electric tail
That cat knows how to swing
My claws can’t keep him close to me
He just wants everything.

Verse 2:
Black coat, jack boots and leather pants
He does know how to score
When his paws run all over me
I feel his fur, for sure.

Chorus:
Whiskers, whiskers a go go go go go.

Verse 3:
We dance until the break of dawn
Tom cat with tiger paws
It’s off to bars and restaurants
Late drinks at Panther’s Claw.

Verse 4:
His pad is like the cat’s meow
With string we misbehave
Then roll until the morning comes
And he forgets to shave.

Chorus:
Whiskers, whiskers a go go go go.

Verse 5:
Repeat verse 1.

Verse 6:
Repeat verse 2.

Shadow (Cat's Song)

Written By: Larry Levy

Shadow

In my youth I was ignored
I was restless, I was bored
For years.
Never saw beyond my pain
Or the clouds behind the rain
Of tears.
I was just a girl afraid.
I was just a girl afraid.

Shadow was my only friend
In the dark I held her hand
At night.
Drew her face in silhouette
‘cause I could not face her yet
By light.
I was a creative girl.
Yes, I was a creative girl.

Chorus: Shadow, my friend
What do you see in me?
Shadow, my love
Please stay in front of me.

In love I’d procrastinate
Lick my lips and make them wait
For me.
But it was all show and tell
‘Cause I was just so unwell
You see:
I was a heartbroken girl.
I was a heartbroken girl.

Dominique

Dominique

(Verse): I’m gonna tell ya how it’s gonna be
When you’ve discovered the inside of me.
And I’m gonna to tell ya just what to say
When you’ve uncovered the games that I play.
I’m gonna show ya what hoops to jump through
When you believe that’s the best you can do.
And I’m gonna show you all in good time
When you deceive me I know you’ll be mine.

(Pre-chorus): You cannot run, you cannot hide
I’ll make you beg, I’ll make you cry.
I’m what you need, I’m what you crave
I am your mistress, you are my slave.

(Chorus): If you survive, I’ll let you in
All that you need is some strict discipline.
Know what you want, all of them do
Show me respect and I’ll guide you through.
Follow my lead, follow my whip
Do not give in when I tighten my grip.
You cannot see, you cannot peek
I am your mistress, Dame Dominique.

Guitar solo through (A) and (B) sections then chorus.

(Verse): I want you down where you belong
Prove that you’re weak by making me strong.
Tell me your sins, confess them to me
Do as your told and I’ll set you free.
Worship my strength, bow to your knees
Humble yourself and always say please.
Bathe in my pleasure, welcome the pain
Pray at my alter, come see me again.

Short Timer

Written By: Larry Levy

Short Timer

Verse 1:
I'm a short timer, love just hangin' round
I'm a short timer, lookin' to be found.

I'm a nickel dimer, dyin' to go down
I'm just like an avalanche, waiting to hit ground.

Chorus:
You might think you know me
But then again maybe not
And I just don't want to brag to you
'Bout all the things I'm not.

Verse 2:
'Cause I'm a slow timer, takin' it day by day
I'm a slow timer, or so the ladies say.

Chorus:
You might think you know me
But then again maybe not
And I just don't want to brag to you
'Bout all the things I'm not.

Break.
Chorus:
You might think you know me
But then again maybe not
And I just don't want to brag to you
'Bout all the things I'm not.

Verse 3:
I'm a slow timer, sittin', restin' my bones
I'm a slow timer, please come and take me home.

Chorus:
You might think you know me
But then again maybe not
And I just don't want to brag to you
'Bout all the things I'm not.
