Bio

What started as an excuse for new acquaintances to enter a local competition has turned into
somewhat of an emergent livelihood for four guys from Indianapolis. Ben Scott (drums) and
Derrick Royer (Vox, Guitar) met in 2005. Along with a couple friends they managed to put
together a rock ensemble to perform the very next day in competition with several other
Indiana bands. Performing by necessity stretched the newly formed act.
Shortly after their first set of practices, Josh Kincheloe (Guitar) joined the band. Originally a
drummer Kincheloe stepped in to fulfill the need for rhythm guitar, and backup vocals.
The Holiday has stood out, turning ears in a scene littered with countless hardcore acts
and tasteless vanilla radio rock. Comprised of artists that have played since their youth, The Holiday
demonstrates fresh musicianship and artistry, drawing from influences of the
melodic, the mellow yet also the heavy.
While gaining opening slots with several popular regional acts, the band built an impressive fan
base which lead to them being the “go to” band in the greater Indianapolis area to open for
national acts such as Spoken, Envy On The Coast, The Wedding, The Fold, House of Heroes, Day of Fire, Wavorly
and a handful more.
Today the lofty goals of winning the before mentioned competition have waned into simply
becoming the humble beginnings of a need to know band in Indiana with talent beyond their
years. The Holiday is now receiving calls from all over Indiana and the Midwest with
weekends packed solid during the year of 2007. Their next step has put shows on hold to write
and record their new e.p. with aim to release in springtime of 2008. By summer, they
will have outdone the prior years combined. Given the newly penned agreement with
management/indie label redwallMUSIC the guys are looking forward to a hard working 2008.
