"The Holland Dutch: Self-Starter"

Self-Starter is the debut release from Atlanta-based 4-piece The Holland Dutch. The album has a slight girly-pop feel akin to bands like The New Pornographers and Throwing Muses. Listening to this rockin' release will definitely get your toes tappin' and fingers snappin' to their shifting tempos and vocal harmonies. Although their music has a very poppy veneer, underneath the surface lay complex and darker undertones. The lyrics venture into territories and subjects you wouldn’t expect... Highlights include "Sad Salute" and "Kids Are All Grown." As we approach spring and summer, this is the perfect release for those bright and happy days.

"Rock [reminiscent] of the darker moments of The Go Go's with a bit more bite." - Degenerate Press

Bio

The Holland Dutch are neither Dutch, nor from Holland, but they're bound to rock your clogs off! The 4-piece from Atlanta, GA cranks out driving, melodic, harmony-laden indie rock, often likened to the New Pornographers and Throwing Muses. Self-Starter, the band's debut full-length release, is chock full of the fun and lively, yet dark and musing rock that has earned the band a solid and growing fan base and their highly anticipated sophomore release, due out in early 2010, promises to deliver no less.

"Although their music has a poppy veneer, underneath the surface lay complex and darker undertones. The lyrics venture into territories and subjects you wouldn't expect... Highlights include Sad Salute and Kids Are All Grown."
—Stephen Jefferson, PRICK magazine
