The Hollerin

The Hollerin

BandRockBlues

The Hollerin sow Blues and Rock together with the seeds of Folk and Soul. Slick guitar hooks, smooth bass lines, with soulful and gritty vocals.

Biography

What originated as a singer/songwriter collaboration, quickly escalated into rock and roll, drenched in blues, soul and americana. The Hollerin was built around singer Christian Taylor's songwriting, love for the blues and soulful vocals. But the thick of it comes in the form of Jacob's groovin' bass riffs, Leo's catchy rock guitar licks. and drummer Jason's hard hitting, swing beats.

The 4 piece from San Diego play what they feel, and feel what they play. With influences ranging from Led Zepplin, Radiohead, Thrice, Howlin Wolf, Ray LaMontagne, Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd, SRV, and Hendrix, Its no wonder their sound is familiar yet new. The vocals pull you in with a soothing, growl and powerful presence, belted out in every line with passion and heart. Their music speaks for itself, never really staying in one genre or another, but underlined in thick blues tone. They're a guaranteed good time with live performances that never fall short. You'll find yourself on the floor dancing with the crowd before you even realize it.

Lyrics

See The Light

Written By: Christian Taylor

I met a man the other day
He didn't have much to say
The stories were written in the lines on his face

Behind a beard grown long and grey
He carried a smile that would never sway
And in his eyes I see a light brighter than the day

He said I've been walkin this here land
With only god to hold my hand
And it aint hard to see your heart is as lost as me

When he spoke it was precise and true
He said these words are for you
You'll never be free 'til you find your own sense of peace

Cause nothing will ever seem right
Until you stand up and see the light
Don't let the darkness consume your mind
Otherwise you might wake to find
That this life has passed you by

I said whatcha mean old man
Im just fine, I've done the best I can
With a smile he replied you still dont recognize who I am

You see I am you and you are me
And all of this is just a dream
Now look in the mirror these words will seem so much clearer

Cause nothing will ever seem right
Until you stand up and see the light
Don't let the darkness consume your mind
Otherwise you'll fall behind
And then nothing will ever seem right
So you gotta stand up and see the light
Don't let the darkness consume your mind
Otherwise you might wake to find
That this life has passed you by
