The Hollow Bodies

The Hollow Bodies

BandRock

The Hollow Bodies are unlike any recording artists in UK. They have the ability to craft tunes that sound as if they always existed while embracing the idea of diversity.

Biography

Acclaimed by a couple of people as the most important UK since The Smiths, The Hollow Bodies were formed in Lymstone Village, Devon during the spring of 2007. Michael John Mooney (vocals) and David Alexander Braid (guitar) originally combined as a songwriting partnership. Mooney had previously played for a couple of months in “Killing Time”. After that he wrote several popular television commercial jiggles. Braid, meanwhile, had played in several South West England groups.

By the summer of 2008, the duo decided to form a group and recorded demos with drummer Cameron MacDogall and a recording engineer named Jonathan. MacDogall subsequently declined an offer to join The Hollow Bodies and in later years became a member of the “The Macdogall Family Hour”. Eventually, Pete Marin was recruited as drummer, having previously played with the punk-inspired “A-Team”. During their debut gig at the Gunnersbury Hotel in Chiswick, the band received rave reviews from the 15 people in the audience and decided they could be a part time band, if they didn’t give up their day jobs.

Face The World

Written By: Braid, Mooney & Burnside

There building brilliant machines to go
Straight up, out of sight
Now they can see right through my head
But some things, are better left alone
Time and war will make fools of us all

I won’t leave you darling
To face the world alone
I won’t leave you darling alone
I won’t leave you darling
To face the world alone
I won’t leave you darling alone

I’m pulling the Polaroids out of the box
They’ve faded from the sun
But nothing we have to give has been lost
Even we’re wasting away
Days and hours
Won’t labour us now

I won’t leave you darling
To face the world alone
I won’t leave you darling alone
I won’t leave you darling
To face the world alone
I won’t leave you darling

Hey, got to taking it higher, taking it higher what you believe
Hey, got to taking it higher, taking it higher what you believe
Hey, got to taking it higher, taking it higher what you believe

Machines

Written By: David Braid and Michael Mooney

Why go out in the daylight
I’ve got everything I need
right here in my basement of apathy.
The world is not what we make it
I struggle to provide
an overblown ambition
Need to survive.

I know that it seems unnatural
But I’ll get used to it if I have to
Didn’t get up this morning,
Cause the machines do all the work for me.

A new car filled with fast food,
a strong economy.
Adequate compensation for slavery.
We thought you had the answers,
but now you must renege.
Virtue is in the conscience of how we live

I know that it seem unnatural
But I’ll get used to it if I have to
Didn’t get up this morning,
Cause the machines do all the work for me.

All day rising
all night up
Safe here in my rut

I know that it seem unnatural
But I’ll get used to it if I have to
Didn’t get up this morning,
Cause the machines do all the work for me.

All day rising
all night up
All day rising
all night up

Get It Back

Written By: Braid, Mooney & Burnside

A hundred thousand lovers…
who don’t speak,
to one another.
He blames himself for everything.
She blames him.
And no other

You and I where never like that
Wish we could get it back
Were two trains we’re on the wrong track.
We can’t get it back.

Pulled down by all the pressures,
of the world
Something’s gotta give.
We push away all that’s precious
to the point
There’s nothing left to give

You and I where never like that
Wish we could get it back
Were two trains we’re on the wrong track.
We can’t get it back.

Every year I’m growing older
Everyday the wind blows colder
It might be time to shed this skin and meet the light inside
Cause lovers never die
Cause lovers never die
