Bio

Acclaimed by a couple of people as the most important UK since The Smiths, The Hollow Bodies were formed in Lymstone Village, Devon during the spring of 2007. Michael John Mooney (vocals) and David Alexander Braid (guitar) originally combined as a songwriting partnership. Mooney had previously played for a couple of months in “Killing Time”. After that he wrote several popular television commercial jiggles. Braid, meanwhile, had played in several South West England groups.

By the summer of 2008, the duo decided to form a group and recorded demos with drummer Cameron MacDogall and a recording engineer named Jonathan. MacDogall subsequently declined an offer to join The Hollow Bodies and in later years became a member of the “The Macdogall Family Hour”. Eventually, Pete Marin was recruited as drummer, having previously played with the punk-inspired “A-Team”. During their debut gig at the Gunnersbury Hotel in Chiswick, the band received rave reviews from the 15 people in the audience and decided they could be a part time band, if they didn’t give up their day jobs.
