The Hollows

BandAlternativeRock

Orgasms and Mania give way to mourning like your best friend is gone or had the change.

Biography

Two founding members, David Browne and Steve Court grew up in a Toronto suburb and began sharing ideas about art and music as children. The Hollows are a culmintation of an undying partnership and nine years of songwriting. Dave and Steve met Coz three years ago in a unique twist of fate when their vehicles collided on a busy downtown street. After a heated exchange, some damaged instruments led to a conversation about music and life. Shortly After, the three began to exchange musical ideas and formed a three piece power rock trio called The Hollows with Coz on drums, David on Vocals and guitars and Steve on Bass. The results were undeniable, with a buzz building, the band decided to expand to feature Coz on lead guitar, his primary instrument. After a short lived but productive run with a pinch hit drummer, The Hollows found current Drummer Jay Herdman who seemed to have a sixth sense of what the band needed. Their sound is a potent mix of poetic and reflective yet accesible lyrics, three way harmony laden melodies and bone crunching guitar tones layered with heavenly U2 like ostinatos. The Hollows take you on a true listening adventure, and their sincere and passionate live performances only add to their credibility. The band has been described as a mix of many infleunces including Jeff Buckley, Broken Social Scene, The Stills, Sloan and the The White Stripes.

Infomercial Candle Light

Written By: David Browne

Theres no simple sign,
to point it out
I need an act of god
I need to get checked out
The television lightning in my living room is such a waste of power and the infomercial candle light doesnt make me want to buy.

Im crawling my way back
Im crawling my way back
to meet you somwhere
Im stumbling around
with the feeling gone
I dont feel at one
anymore

How did I know,
It was your ring that day
I should have known,
I go into shock that way
electronically it was the same
but there was something out of place the way it rang that day
so I just walked away

Im crawling my way back
Im crawling my way back
to meet you somwhere
Im stumbling around aim
with the feeling gone
I dont feel at one
anymore

Life Support

Written By: Browne

Whistling those cowboy themes and riding the wind with the tumbleweeds, I see you and your friends walk across my street, I want to run you over.
We're drinking it in it’s a daily thirst, we're drinking it in before it drinks us first, my death row boots to your snakeskin eyes, I want to kick you over.
You Breath in the phone, you knock in the dark
Your shadow slips in like a poison dart
I wanna go home, it's been a long time
It’s been a long time, since you came into my room
To pull the plug on my life support.
Secret pictures through the blinds, the paintings have ears and they mover their eyes, but every disease in this hotel dies, I wanna get contagious.
contagiousToday in the busy part of this town
I chose an intersection to lay my head down
I noticed the machines, had all been left to run
they all just sped along
with their engines set to stun,

Atlantis

Written By: Browne

When I wake up at a quarter to six, I realize I spend my days without a blink
And I think I’d like to plant my flag, yes I think id like to plant my flag on a planet like this.
But there it goes again, there it goes again, we're loosing our Atlantis
When I get home at a quarter to six, I put my dreams into a microwave and I hope for the best.
I think ill go swimming when the flood comes in, think I go swimming instead of floating face down in the neighbors’ pool
not again.
But there it goes again, there it goes again, we're loosing our Atlantis
