Bio

the holloys
Are a five piece - double drum, double bass, trumpet, guitar & synth dance band who believe they are channeling conscious
energy frequencies from a place called Lake Land to a place called Everything, aka earth.
Regardless of their philosophy, the band is best known for their high energy live shows - earning them the title of newest band to
have been invited to perform at the highly esteemed invitation only festival, All Tomorrows Parties - last spring in Minehead UK
2009. At the time of their invitation the holloys had not officially released one recording, yet The holloys roster of musicians that
have played in the group in the short year and a half that they have been in active duty proves no wonder as to why their reputation
proceeds them as being a great band.
Jim Brown (Blue Bird, Idaho, Jackie O-Motherfucker, John Frusciate w/ Joe Lally, The Red Krayola, Glenn Branca)
Bryan Lee Brown (Blue Bird, Dick Dale, Dave Grohl, Louie Bellson)
Jon Theodore (The Mars Volta, Golden, One Day as A Loin, Will Oldham)
Jose Medeles (The Breeders)
Tony Hajjar ( At The Drive In, Sparta)
Jon Gonnelli (Rye Coalition, The Black Hollies)
Alfrado Ortiz (The Bestie Boys, Morning Wood, Freska)
Cliff Bryant (Isis, Red Sparrows)
The holloys’ dynamically evolving sound, drawn from a diverse range of cultural traditions and musical genres, culminates with it’s
beat-heavy blend of trance, dance, Afropop - polyrhythm, neo-prog, electronica, soaring pop melodies.
Within the last year, holloys have released two records, Make it Happen, and Art Wars, as well as soon to be released split 7inch
with their local native Los Angeles friends Dengue Fever. The holloys next record is scheduled to be released in February 2010 to
be followed by a European tour in support of the new upcoming record.
The holloys self booked 2009 European / UK tour has gained the band international attention not only as a great up and coming
band, but also as an independent DIY force on a high professional level. While opening for bands such as The Yeah Yeah Yeahs,
The Foals, Holy Fuck, Shellac, Wire, Gang of Four, and The Breeders, The holloys have set an impressive pace for a new band.
With their well spring of positive energy and artistic vision it makes a person wonder, “maybe there is something to this place they
call Lake Land.”
