Bio

From the Harsh climates of the Canadian prairies, where loneliness and dissonance come from the distances, to the gritty fast pace of Los Angeles where the same feelings of isolation come from the clutter, The Hope State was formed to finally connect those who felt out of place.
Taylor Johnson created The Hope State In the winter of 2007 after the death of a friend forced Taylor to ask himself what he was really doing with his life. With simply silence for an answer his constant procrastination was set aside and replaced for a broken microphone and a free recording program, with that The Hope State was born. Taylor Began writing and didn't stop until he felt the sentiment he was trying to get across was settled by word and melody. "It was a rough time for me, I was in a new city very different from the one where I was raised. I felt very alone in every aspect of my life, writing really helped me get out of that state and back into a mindset where I felt like I was living again, or that I was at least less useless than I was before."
The Hope State's intense yet unobtrusive anthems are able to give the illusion of beauty while subtly masking the underlying themes of despair and fear. Hate, destruction and depression can all be wonderful things if you are able to make them so, The Hope State prove this.
