"First Cuts Goes American"

Circa 2006
"Just up the road you'll find Roulette who have a more mainstream approach to their - hard driving rock. 'One Track Mind' has a neat bluesy feel. But Stephen Byrne's vocal is lost in the mix an it goes on forever to nobody's benefit. 'Habbit' is much more inventive. With fine drumming from Tom Bates, but the vocalist again seems either shy or too modest for his own good. Backward guitars introduce 'Free Flow' and you get sucked in straight away. It builds up really well before evolving into a fine track that shows echoes of Rory Gallagher et al and proves that volume works even better when you don't do it all the time. - Hotpress (Jackie Hayden)

Discography

DEMONSTRATION (For Hotpress First Cuts demo review) This CD was recorded in the wash of Tom's garage. Lets just say it was optimisticly eager.
One Track Mind, Free Flow, Ton and Habbit. These tracks were apparently played on an American radio station (Sirius Disorder) by Irishman Larry Kirwan (Black 47). But we never personally heard this.

DEMO 2 (for HWCH 2006)
Recorded hastily in the once, "Stoney Road Studios". Tracks included: Habbit, Bitchimin and Free Flow.

None of our songs have been officially released.

Bio

THE HUNDRED FLOWER CAMPAIGN have been around in some form or another for around 5 years, we emerged as a lamb like 4 peice with attitude. Which, over the years has chopped and changed and evolved into the band we are now. The name was different until very recently, but what's a name? As Roulette we played many places including a number of venues in Dublin, Wexford, and the odd one in Dundalk.
We have many influences including blues, jazz, funk, rock, metal amoung others. Bands such as Pearl Jam and Queens of the Stone Age and much, much more. But we have always played our own material mixed with a few covers.
We have a fresh, unique sound, that we can truly say is..... original. Live ,we like to think we can put on a good show, many madnesses in any one night. We have a fairly regular spot in our local "The Halfway House" which is a great venue to rock the house down.
We have been gigging a lot in Wexford area over the past few months but were taking a small step backward to push forward the recording we have oh so long awaited for. We're putting a lot of energy into this next cd and we hope to move things further down the river with this one.
Note: the music we are submitting to HWCH is only reference material for the EP were about to record, which was mainly put together in Tom's bedroom.
It's easy to loose your aims with in a city like Wexford, playing in an original band that is. But we feel we have a point to make, we want to break this awful cycle of lacking... or at least do our best to do so.

THE HUNDRED FLOWER CAMPAIGN have a lot of expression to unveil, and the next year will see at least an inkling of that.
