Bio
In the mid-noughties, 4 teenagers from Stirling came together and formed a band.
Fed up and uninspired with most of the music that is out at the moment they built their sound upon genres that produced their favorite music such as post punk, baggy, punk funk, new wave, rock, indie and house and disco music.
The Hype do not copy the past, their sound produces a fusion of styles that is unlike a lot of music around today and is tailor made for the dancefloor with pounding drums and basslines coupled with chiming melodic guitar and catchy vocals.
The music of The Hype has started to attract airplay on BBC radio and XFM and their song “Panic” has featured on Steve lamacq’s Radio 6 show.
The band have toured a lot of the UK and have played in prestigious venues such as London’s Dublin Castle, Liverpool’s Zanzibar, Manchester's Band on the Wall and Glasgow’s King Tuts.
They have supported acts as diverse as the Maccabees, Regina Spektor, The Law, Humanzi, The Vortex, The Complete Stone Roses and Test Icicles.
Debut album Leave it All behind is available on iTunes now.
