Bio

The Hypnotics are an exciting up-and-coming music collective consisting of four talented artists; their collective sound as a group is one derived from unique contributions from each individual members diverse array of musical backgrounds and listening influences.

Overseeing the group’s slick production and musical arrangements is Mangere Producer/Rapper/ Pianist/ Songwriter “Anonymouz”. Although his main love of Hip Hop & R’n’B is usually evident in a lot of his work, he also draws inspiration from his upbringing and many years of experience within the Classical, Gospel, Heavy Metal, and Island Reggae genres.

The group’s male vocal duo “Deuce” consist of vocalist “Dok02” and vocalist/ guitarist “Wiggidy WayQs”. Dok02 has a unique vocal style that is just at ease with smooth soul vocal interpretations as it is with hyped reggae toasts and hip hop adlibs. This often finds him cementing the group’s main vocal hooks and choruses.

Interestingly, his voice meshes very well with the contrasting tone of his Deuce partner WayQs (who also doubles as the group comedian!) Always keen to learn a new guitar jazz chord when he’s not inventing crazy new words, WayQs has a husky, country and rock music influenced vocal and guitar playing style, shaped by many years of schoolyard jams and garage parties around South Auckland.

Completing the group on vocal duties is the crew’s female lead vocalist “JEM”. Her powerful, soulful tone and immense vocal abilities also happen to mirror her corresponding talents on the songwriting side of things; her dynamic lead vocals and creative writing skills definitely earmark her as one of the up-and-coming music stars of the future.

Independently releasing both solo and collective material since 2009, they have already, in support of group member Anonymouz’s singles and upcoming album, performed at many major concerts across Auckland, including, amongst others, performances for Style Pasifika at the Vector Arena, Pasifika Festival at Western Springs, Pacific Music and Art Awards amongst other performances at the TelstraClear Pacific Arts Centre in Manukau, as well as the 2010 The Silver Scroll Awards at the Town Hall.

They released their first official collective debut THE HYPNOTICS EP in December 2010, later this year you can expect the release of The Hypnotics debut Album, a debut solo EP from JEM and final single and debut album from ANONYMOUZ dropping shortly thereafter.
