"Live Music This Week: The Implicate Order EP Release ; Calgary quartet showcases new sonic maturity"

The two years since recording their seven-song debut, "Hollow Process," have seen the members of Calgary alt-rock foursome The Implicate Order go through a bit of an evolution.

"I've seen the band evolve through some of the experiences we've had," says singer and guitarist Christina Lackowicz. "Things like being able to travel to Toronto for Indie Week Canada last year really helped us put a lot into perspective in regards to exposure, performance, sound and understanding the industry.

"We have definitely rethought our approach to arrangements and sounds," she adds.

That new thinking shows on the band's new six-track EP, "Lust; Ad Nauseam." The band's sound has been tightened, focused and reined in to create a cohesive soundscape — one that sounds like a band rather than four individuals. Lackowicz gives producer-engineers Craig Newnes and Spencer Cheyne at The Station Recording Co. in Calgary much of the credit for the polished sound.

"Their expertise was super important. The feel of the album is, I think, I little more mature but still edgy and angst-ridden." As for that angst, it stems from the band's willingness to analyze real-world issues and address them in music.

"The theme behind this EP is the contrast of idealism versus raw, human reality," Lackowicz says. "It speaks about these unattainable standards we create within our relationships, display in media and lust after in life. We incessantly beat ourselves up over failing to achieve what we assume everyone already has —it’s a self-loathing, depreciating, destruction of our own human worth and self-esteem."

Sonically, the band, which consits of bassist Tyler Allard, guitarist Gene Lachica and drummer Josh Nadeau along with Lackowicz, boasts peerless musicianship and a talent for not sounding like anyone else. Lackowicz's voice is as powerful as ever, resonant, pliable and expressive without any hint of showing off.

Joining The Implicate Order for Saturday's EP release show will be veteran Calgary rock trio The Evidence and Celtic-flavoured rockers Craic the Lens. - Avenue Calgary

"The Sunstroke Music Festival is a Sign of Summer"

Solstice is nearly upon us, which means the annual Sunstroke Music Festival is almost upon us, too.
For those who are new to the festival, it’s a non-profit fundraiser for Kona's Coalition. The coalition helps animals in the Yukon by educating people, advocating for animals, and providing financial support when needed.
It is a two-day festival, taking place June 20-21.
Over 30 musical acts from western Canada will perform in Whitehorse. Festival favourites the Whiskydicks, from Vancouver, will again grace the stage.
Also included in the line up are Edmonton's Raygun Cowboys, The Implicate Order from Calgary, and many more.

"The Implicate Order - Hollow Process"

"The real magic of music for me, lies in it’s ability to be whatever you need when it’s needed. Sometimes I am caught by gifted technical prowess, smooth or moving poetry that grabs at a deep emotional level, or genuine cerebral stimulation that gets all that brain juice flowing.

Hollow Process by The Implicate Order has a healthy smattering of all of the above, and that is a good reason to smile...." - I Can't Believe my Earz

Bio

The Implicate Order is a Calgary based alternative rock quartet. Their driving sound is infused with pop and progressive elements, making for a unique sonic mashup. After forming in September 2011, they quickly gained notoriety for their eclectic & profound music, and intense performances.

“The Implicate Order is representative of a progressive wave of indie bands determined to propel rock and roll from the ashes... With blazing musical chops, blissfully dynamic vocals, and a rebellious energy similar to 90′s ska-punk rockers No Doubt and Canuck contemporary The Box Tiger, this Calgary group is making waves ... " -Jeffrey Burns, Rockline.com, 2013

'Hollow Process', The Implicate Order’s debut EP, was released in October, 2012-- and 2013 saw a busy year of touring throughout and performing in festivals across Canada (Indie Week [Toronto], Taste of Edmonton), playing for crowded venues within their hometown, and writing material for a new album. The Implicate Order have received airplay on Calgary radio stations CJSW 90.9, X92.9, and have appeared live on CJSW shows “Lois Loves Clark” and “Off the Map”.

The much anticipated follow up EP "Lust; Ad Nauseam", was recorded at The Station Recording Company (Calgary). Early spring saw the completion of a music video for the first single "Temper"; produced & filmed by 'Collide Entertainment' of Vancouver, BC, and was released June 2014. The EP was officially released July 2014.

The Implicate Order give a much needed edge to the bubblegum pop rock invading the music scene without any gimmicks. Lust; Ad Nauseam invites you in and hooks you. What a massive step forward for the band.” – Matt Berry, X92.9

The Implicate Order continues to tour across much of Western/Mid and Northern Canada to commemorate these releases--traveling from as close to home as Edmonton, AB; all the way to Whitehorse, YT as part of the 9th annual Sunstroke Music Festival under the midnight sun. May 2015 is set to see a spring tour across western Canada where The Implicate Order may be travelling to a city near you-- this tour schedule will be released in the coming months of the new year.
