"BBC Radio's World Service"

For artists trying to break away from the industry-established norms of seeking out a record label, harnessing the power of the web is a relatively simple way to make the most of a loyal fanbase... - BBC

"BoingBoing"

Having had stellar success funding her album and video with Kickstarter, musician Kim Boekbinder set out on tour... - BoingBoing

"The Creator's Project"

Kim Boekbinder is The Impossible Girl, a Canadian musician whose work (plus her otherworldly sense of fashion) communicates an interest in outer space. She funded her first album, “The Impossible Girl,” through Kickstarter, and recently launched a Kickstarter for her new disc, “The Sky Is Calling.” The work is “a celebration of humans in space,” according to the announcement, and the eponymous first single is a driving electro-dance song set to a video of remixed NASA diagrams and iconography. Like science, art for Boekbinder “can only serve to advance our understanding of ourselves, our world, and the intangible places in between,” she wrote in an email to Creators Project. - The Creator's Project

"PureVolume - Premiere"

The Impossible Girl, AKA Kim Boekbinder, is debuting her new single "Fix You Good" exclusively here on PureVolume today—and not just that, but we're offering you a free download of the tune as well.

It's all in celebration of the Manhattan-based (by way of Canada) electronic/indie-pop artist's upcoming second fan-funded solo album, The Sky is Calling, on June 21. - PureVolume

"Under The Radar Magazine"

The Impossible Girl is the work of Kim Boekbinder, a musician/visual artist who sings with the sweetness of Saint Vincent and weaves a Trent Reznor-worthy web of electronics. Her new self-released album The Sky is Calling is out June 21. Ahead of that take a listen to the aggressive first single, "Stellar Alchemist." - Under The Radar

"Kim Boekbinder On Making A Living As An Artist"

I have long been interested in the 1,000 True Fans theory – the idea that “a creator, such as an artist, musician, photographer, craftsperson, performer, animator, designer, videomaker, or author – in other words, anyone producing works of art – needs to acquire only 1,000 True Fans to make a living.”

Boekbinder (...) has an ardent fan base. But according to the 1,000 True Fans theory, a True Fan is “someone who will purchase anything and everything you produce.” That’s a high bar.

So, I was intrigued when I got an email from Boekbinder about her new program, Mission Control, in which she asked fans to support the creation of her new album by pledging financial support every month, in increments as small as $10. These backers are rewarded with various levels of goodies, from access to a private blog up to the writing of a custom song and the performing of that song via Skype concert.

"Kim Boekbinder: The Impossible Girl"

The Impossible Girl is the glorious solo debut of Kim Boekbinder (previously of the duo, Vermillion Lies). Kim’s a quirky, funny, bravely vulnerable, electrifying lightning rod of a woman. Her music tends to reflect these traits in a most endearing fashion. - COILHOUSE Magazine
