The Incredible Kicks are a hyper-powered prog pop explosion of techy riffage, addictive hooks and surprising vocal gymnastics guaranteed to impress fans of Queen, Coheed and Cambria, Protest the Hero and Rush, while still satisfying fans of hair metal and pop punk with their bright, goofy collective persona and playful aspects. It’s a rare feat for a new band to show both technical achievement and humility/a sense of fun, but that’s what this impressive Brisbane-based rock trio is doing.
Their new EP “Fairytales” shows them to be one of the most versatile and strange acts I’ve heard in a long time. The lead vocals are especially daring, with their theatrical Freddy Mercury style and charismatic over-confidence. The breakdowns in the music are fantastic, and you get the sense that the guys must be heavily trained….or more heavily trained. There’s no way you could create music of this calibre without knowing your craft.

If it were the 1600's, The Incredible Kicks would have been writing thirty-four flute fugues. Instead, they're stuck in the 21st century, the age of near infinite musical genres. If you take the lift up past ‘Alternative’, all the way up to ‘Prog-Pop’, then jump through the nearest window and take a flying fox over to the next building – that's where you'll find The Incredible Kicks. Alternatively, listen to a track and invent a new sub-genre, it's fun for the whole family. Casual and friendly, with a tendency to go a little bit over the top, when writing a song, if the question is raised, "should we go there?", the answer is always yes!
In May 2011, The Incredible Kicks released their Debut EP, ‘Fairytales’. Blending the best parts of Prog Rock and Pop, Fairytales is a wicked and wondrous musical journey down the rabbit hole. From love songs to nightmares and abstract tales come five tracks, laced with pop sensibility and roguish charm. To support the release of Fairytales the boys have had a few brief yet exciting sojourns to the southern states.
Fresh out of the studio, The Incredible Kicks will be executing their 7 pronged attack of the East-coast over 5 weeks kicking off in Brisbane this July, promoting their new EP 'Ineffective Lullabies'. Travis Hair on lead vox/ guitar, Josh Griffin on drums/vox and Luis A Bran bass/vox, The Incredible Kicks are desperate and determined for the opportunity to infect your ear holes. At least twice.
