"Review of The Indoor Kids album"

The Indoor Kids‘ first full-length, an untitled, 12-track recording of crisp production, has a lot to offer, especially in musical styles. Tracks such as the opener “Glide” and “One Of These Days” are a true mix of rock, jazzy interludes, funk, and blues. “Tightrope” takes a more straightforward rock approach, almost sounding live, which shows the band can also stick to one style and nail it. "TIK named number 12"

The Indoor Kids' 'Human' (a track from A Half Step From Salvation) was voted the 12th best tune of 2004 by Hostage Radio. - Hostage Radio

"Some nice words..."

The Indoor Kids!! DAMN!! What a surprise! Talk about having your own sound! You would think the big 3 labels would be jumping all over these guys!! Oh well... hey kids, let's have the independents make the money while the giants sleep in until 4 in the afternoon...

Full review: This 3 song EP includes pop punk rock with a real original flare. First track, "Close To Me," is a solid upbeat offering and is "radio friendly" all the way. It includes superb lead guitar inclusion, rhythmic punch, memorable hooks and a vocal with definitive personality (Bryan Manasse). "Crazy In The End," starts out as a groovy ballad that escalates into a more revved up assembly featuring more compelling vocals and tasteful leads, backed by a rock solid percussion (Bobby Thompson)... nice cymbal work... and the solid groove of (former Toledoan) bassist (Dan Huber). "Superhero." is a steadfast number, slightly heavier, and with superb lead and back vocals (Manasse/Huber) still intact. The future looks good for Chicago's Indoor Kids... due to their professional presentation, good communication, and obvious knack for creating memorable songs. another 3 song EP is in the works before they invest in their full-length album (release date yet to be determined).

Bio

Hailing from Chicago, The Indoor Kids have been together in their current form since the fall of 2004. Singer/guitarist Bryan Manasse was looking for someone to help conceptualize his original music and in July '04 he began to collaborate with Toledo-implant Daniel Huber (bass). After looking for the right person to play drums for the band, the search finally ended when Dan Kuemmel jumped on board. Kuemmel, a journalist for the Associated Press in the Virgin Islands, was in the Boas (Overcoat Records) and toured with Chicago blues legend Melvin Taylor. Upon his return to Chicago, he met Manasse and Huber and began to add his distinctively unique feel to the music. The rest has been musical bliss. The Indoor Kids have spent unmeasurable amounts of time crafting an original sound and feel in an effort to capture each of the band members' personality. With influences spanning the gamet of musical artists, Manasse, Huber, and Kuemmel have finally found their chosen outlet. In 2006, the band began featuring fellow musicians Dan Spielman, Kate Mullaney, and Daryl Coutts, rounding out many of the songs on the album. The band is currently promoting their new record and writing songs for the next one.
