I wouldn't have it any other way

Written By: David Minchin

I wake up in the morning and I'm smiling
I look into the mirror and I'm crying
Did you ever really know my name
or was I just another ego game
I wouldn't have it any other way
I wouldn't have it any other wayI wouldn't have it any other way
I wrote this song nearly 27 years ago
the chances past me by but I always moved too slow
Ambition walks a razors edge or so they say
In a blink of an eye you can feel like Dorian Gray
I wouldn't have it any other wayI wouldn't have it any other wayI wouldn't have it any other way
This songs alive now
Can you feel and taste it just like me
It's the time now
To paint the words in shades of blue and green and set it free, and set it free, and set it free
I wouldn't have it any other wayI wouldn't have it any other wayI wouldn't have it any other way
It's a long hard haul from Hobart up to Hollywood
To milk the cow that feeds the stars it must taste good
While the summer sun is shining down in Sandy Bay
I'm freezing in a hotel somewhere in the USA
I wouldn't have it any other wayI wouldn't have it any other wayI wouldn't have it any other way

One in a Million

Written By: David Minchin

See the girl with flowers in her hair
I close my eyes but she's not there
I've been adding it up and I've reached a conclusion
See the girl with dreams in her head
Softly sleeping in her bed
I've been taking my time and I've reached a solution
She's one in a Million
She's One in a Million
One in a Million kind of girl
You could search the whole wide world and still not find her
She's One in a Million
See the girl with stars in her eyes her reason d'etre so sublime
I've been taking my time and I've reached a solution
She's one in a Million
She's One in a Million
One in a Million kind of girl
You could search the whole wide world and still not find her
She's One in a Million
She's One in a Million
She's One in a Million

Nothing Stays the same

Written By: David Minchin/ Greg Cracknell

On this cold Winter's day
how I wish I was far away
This lonely house makes me blue
It just reminds me of you
I the mirror I see
a lonely face as it stares at me
I know that I was a fool
but how can life be so cruel
CHORUS
In my memory you still remain
even though you're far away
but you know what they say
Nothing stays the same

Lonely nights in my bed
wild dreams going round my head
who would have believed
that you meant so much to me

In my memory you still remain
even though you're far away
but you know what they say
Nothing stays the same

I found a letter from you
I'd hidden away
and in a most peculiar way
I found it today

In my memory you still remain
even though you're far away
but you know what they say
Nothing stays the same
Nothing stays the same

Married for a Day

Written By: David Minchin

Married for a Day (David Minchin - Innocentsongs copyright)

If all the world was just a play/game
And life was not so damn insane
We’d not have turned and walked away
When we were Married for a Day

I saw my photo on your wall
I knew not what was to befall
Like Humphrey Bogart and Bacall
How life obliterates us all

Driving by the ocean with the seagulls and the spray
Singing silly songs along the way
Eating chinese takeway like actors in a play
When we were married for a day

Running down the boulevard
Like children lost in play
Sharing food like ship-wrecked castaways
Sending secret messages that only fools can say
When we were Married for a Day

At first I thought it was a dream
But things are never as they seem
How did it end up this a way
When we were married for a day

Getting sudden urges to embrace eternity
Feeling nothing else but you and me
Standing in the mansion with the view across the bat
When we were married for, when we were married for
When we were married for a day

I’d like to be with you and see you smile again
But only memories remain
I’d like t hold you close so you could feel the same
When we were married for a day

You wore a dress of turquoise blue
One perfect moment there with you
And then the daydream slips away
When we were married for a day

Running down the boulevard
Like children lost in play
Sharing food like ship-wrecked castaways
Sending secret messages that only fools can say
When we were Married for …
What were we married for?
When we were married for a day
