"Buzzbands LA "Naked" Song Premire"

“Our two hearts will never sleep alone,” Michael Escañuelas and Celese Hernandez sing on Their Wedding’s new song “Naked,” a squishy pillow-talker best enjoyed with the lights down low. The Inland Empire-bred quartet of singer-pianist Escañuelas, singer-percussionist Celese Hernandez, guitarist Al Hernandez and drummer Ryan Ohanessian has been refining such romanticism for two-plus years now, fashioning a sound that marries the boudoir R&B of the ’90s with today’s gauzy indie-pop production. They started an EP trilogy in late 2013 with “Take,” following it with “Wine” last July. They go completely “Naked” on July 28 when the third of the EPs is released via True Grit Records. Somewhere around here, we have some scented candles. - Buzzbands LA

"Their Wedding Naked EP Review"

by Kendra Beltran

When you write about music on a daily basis, a lot of artists come and go but then every once in awhile you have one that just sticks and that’s what Their Wedding did in an instant. One note into Naked and I was done. I was like, when will be everyone’s favorite new band? Elsewhere I knew one of their members thanks to his indie rock band, but now it seems like Michael Escanuelas has taken his love of being in a rock band and added a pop twist that’s definitely done him well.

Knowing Michael’s other band, The Motel Life, I wasn’t expecting what came when “Next Girl” started to play. I was like, he’s a R&B singer now? The unexpected surprise led me to falling in love fast and hard. Taking the elements of indie and tossing in some soul and pop really makes this record one to hit repeat on. While we started off strong, I wasn’t feeling “Boston” and “Wurly” quite as much but they ended strong with “The Time In-Between” and got me with the title track. Sometimes you need the visuals to really make a song go the distance and that’s what the video for “Naked” does. Shout out to Their Wedding for showing some love to the art of synchronized dancing. Not since the days of great boy bands and more recently Motion City Soundtrack, have artists really taken ahold of that.

So many bands pass through my ears unnoticed, but I’m making a special effort to ensure Their Wedding stays on my radar. Their fusion of soul and indie will make fans of bands like Cable Car and artists like Nick Jonas not only smile, but swoon. If this is the kind of music you want spinning in your life, check out Their Wedding’s Naked, out now. - Coming Up Magazine

"Their Wedding Premiere Video for "Naked""

We are happy to bring you the video premiere of "Naked" - a post-80's vibe track by LA indiepop band, Their Wedding. Started in 2012 as a side project, Their Wedding are now paying their dues full-time, releasing their second EP, Wine, in 2014 and now following that up with their third EP, Naked in July 2015. Comprised of vocalist/pianist Michael Escanuelas, guitarist Al Hernandez, singer/percussionist Celese Hernandez, and drummer Ryan Ohanessias, the band takes their own stand, mixing indie rock, R&B, and electronic music into a fully formed sound and aesthetic. - Buzznet

"BuzzBands.LA "Ears wide Open""

SoCal trio Their Wedding grew from the ashes of Inland Empire indie-rockers the Motel Life, who disbanded in 2012 after releasing two EPs and a full-length. In their new guise, singer-pianist Michael Escanuelas, guitarist Al Hernandez and bassist-vocalist Celese Hernandez are in the middle of an EP trilogy — the second, “Wine,” is out as the follow-up to last year’s “Take” via L.A.-based True Grit Records. More piano-derived than their previous band’s songs, Their Wedding’s material offers an alternately meditative and angsty take on the time-honored themes of love and isolation. The single “I Tried to Leave You” begins as a plaintive ballad until the 1:49 mark, when it explodes with emotive bombast, with the blows then softened by a Celese Hernandez-sung refrain. It’s virtually three songs in one, and indicative of the sonic ground the trio is covering in their trilogy. - BuzzBands.LA

"Music Video Premiere for the song "Move""

Last year LA indie trio Their Wedding released Wine, the second of three EP’s. Today we’re excited to premiere their new video for “Move” from the Wine EP. The video features live performance footage as well as great California scenery. Here’s what Their Wedding’s Michael Escañuelas told us about the video:

“The “Move” music video came into fruition through the idea of our director, Allen Aces. The video concept was simple, he would film us during a short string of shows in Northern California. We filmed some scenes in Big Sur and at various shows, but we honestly did not know what to expect from the footage. With just that simple concept, the final product of “Move” became more a reflection of a small band stepping out of its element. This video is just a small glimpse of us at our most vulnerable and it serves as a great piece that reminds us of why we love doing this in the first place. Hopefully people enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed filming it.” - Ground Sounds

"Their Wedding live at Lot 1 Cafe"

Los Angeles-based indie pop rockers Their Wedding took the stage at Lot 1 Cafe in Echo Park on July 30th for the release of their new EP called Wine EP on vinyl via True Grit Records. It was a hot little room where fans and friends, both new and old alike, shuffled into the space to celebrate the special achievement.

Michael Paul Escanuelas & Al Hernandez, former members of another fantastic and very underrated LA band The Motel Life, founded Their Wedding last year immediately releasing their well-received Take EP. Since then, their style has evolved from the earlier Bon Iver-inspired sound to something entirely their own. The band has grown to a trio which includes Al’s talented wife Celese on additional vocals and bass. For this particular live performance former Wolves drummer Ryan Ohanessian helped round out a proper full band experience. I must say the additions have really helped develop the sound of Their Wedding’s live performance.

It was a fun show, and as always Michael’s hilarious on-stage banter made me laugh and feel truly part of the intimate setting. The vibe was very relaxed, with subtle white Christmas lights creating a warm feeling of watching the performance in someone’s living room. They played Wine EP in from start to finish and closed the evening with two Take EP standouts, “Hiding” and “Want”. If you have not listened to Their Wedding, I highly suggest you check them out. They are very active online and their music can be purchased in various places on the web, streamed on Spotify, and their Soundcloud page. - Restless Cities

"NEW: Their Wedding - Want"

Their Wedding from LA set the bar for bitter band names, and their debut track, Want only further heightens the sense of lustful jealously that dominates their music. With Panama Wedding and East of Ely releasing two of the finest indie-pop gems heard in recent times, Their Wedding wander a similar path, with their expertly written, silk sounding first outing. With the repeated refrain ‘She reminds me of you / and it’s hard ‘cus I want it so bad‘ dominating much of the track, it’s likely to shoot up the Hype Machine, and quite rightly so. Check out Want below. - Crack in the Road

"Their Wedding release new EP"

Their Wedding is a unique clash of Matt Healy from The 1975, sister Danielle from Haim, and Alex Clare. The simply refreshing and igniting dynamic group grabbed my attention with their new EP, Wine, with my favorite single, "I Tried To Leave You". The vocals of member Celese Hernadez are so hypnotizing and spellbinding that I caught myself dancing in my living room while my mother brought groceries in. It was quite embarrassing to say the least, but the build up of vocals and their instrumentals create an overwhelming vibe that I could not shake off. Recently going through a breakup myself, this song hit me relly hard. It's about creating a sound, reliving a moment in your life that is so intoxicating and so incredible, that the only thing that can be used to create that instant flash of joy is music. Or maybe it’s not joy, maybe it’s heart break, maybe it’s anger or peace or whatever it may be; music can truly heal a person's soul and I believe Their Wedding has done a great job at provoking a multitude of emotions into this EP. And thanks to True Grit Records, the 12” vinyl is now available to download and buy. Take advantage of it. - Kayla Hay - The Deli LA

Bio

The first chord chimes white light and black silhouettes. With an air of cool softened by sincerity, it’s Their Wedding.

The name piques the ear like overheard gossip, and this Los Angeles indie outfit indeed delivers, bringing a much-needed genuineness to the current pop milieu of confidently anthemic tunes. They’re influenced by such acts as Bon Iver, The Weeknd, and Blood Orange, but the group takes their own stand, mixing indie rock, R&B, and electronic music into a fully formed sound and aesthetic.

The music owes its born-this-way nature to the chemistry between vocalist/pianist Michael Escanuelas and guitarist Al Hernandez; they previously toiled in a rock band for 5 years, initially starting Their Wedding in 2012 as a side project. Michael sings with a deft longing and handles the keys as if they were a self-contained dance, interlocking with Al’s masterful sense of light-touch guitar dyads, clean-tone swells, and urgent tremolo. The sound is complimented with harmonies and bass guitar by Celese—fittingly, and adding to the sincerity, married to Al. The group is rounded out by drummer, Ryan Ohanessian, whose talent leads the diverse drum arrangement.

The outfit takes a DIY approach—they record, mix, and master their material themselves—but they’re sure to flower into something grander. A quick glance at their Facebook page reveals the same inventiveness in presentation as in the music. It’s all-black fashion, colorless photographs, hip but not pretentious. They built up an elegant mystique leading to the 2013 release of their debut,Take EP, the palpable excitement harkening to the days when teen fans would ditch school on Tuesdays to line up at the record store. Take EP was only the first of a trilogy of EPs released by the band. Wine EP followed and the band recently released the final EP in their set, titled Naked EP, in September. All three albums were released by LA-native label, True Grit Records.

Their Wedding’s been working the Southern California circuit, consistently gigging throughout LA and the Inland Empire to promote the release of their newest material; even scoring an October residency at the famous Silverlake Lounge. After releasing a handful of music videos, three EPs, and gigging full time around the LA scene, Their Wedding is setting the bar high as they move forward into more releases and working to bring a fresh sound to the Los Angeles music scene.
