The Ivy Walls
The Elegant Universe
On September 22nd The Ivy Walls return with the highly anticipated new album, “The Elegant Universe”. With an authentic fusion of 80’s new wave and 90’s shoegaze, the album combines sublime pop orchestration with genuine heartfelt insight. Featuring cameos from several L.A. musicians including West Indian Girl’s Mariqueen Maandig, “The Elegant Universe” is the follow-up to 2007’s indie acclaimed “Lovers in Hotels”.

“The Elegant Universe” is the strongest and most eclectic songwriting to date from The Ivy Walls- varying from the new wave energy of tracks like “Now or Never” to the shoegaze infused guitars and vocals of “The Chase” and “Take a Ride”. Singer Jeff Yanero’s calmly dark and cinematic lyrics hover just above the driving urgency created by guitarist Ryan Varon, bassist The Count, and drummer, Adam Waldon. Atmospheric guitars and saturated melodies conjure memories of Echo and The Bunnymen, The Church, Tears for Fears, Ride, and The Cure.

Since the release of their debut album “Lovers in Hotels”, The Ivy Walls have been featured on USA Network’s “Royal Pains”, FX’s “Dirt”, MTV’s “The Real World Hollywood”, and NBC’s “Around The World for Free”. The Album also put the band at the top of Music Connection Magazine’s 2008 Top Unsigned Bands of the year chart while their video for “The Bombs are Falling” featuring ANTM’s Joanie Dodds spent 3 days in the top 25 of youtube’s most viewed music video category. The Ivy Walls have opened for such acts as Brooklyn’s The Depreciation Guild and California’s own Phantom Planet. In april, nationally syndicated radio host and former CBGB staple Greg Allen featured The Ivy Walls on his radio show stating "The Ivy Walls have well crafted songs that benefit from inventive arrangements. Their lyrics are smart. Easily one of the best new bands around! They merit major label status."
