""Library Hosts The Jack Volpe Project to Rousing Ovation""

"On October 24th, in honor of Italian Heritage Month, The Jack Volpe Project performed songs of Italian crooners Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Tony Bennett at the North End Branch Library. The band consisted of Jack Volpe Rotondi on vocals, Brian Fitzpatrick on piano and Nat Simpkins on saxophone and bass. Approximately 35 people attended.
Each attendee was handed a listing of the song titles to be played, the writers, year written, which of the crooners recorded it and a little bit of trivia such as Grammy Awards, Academy Awards and films which included those songs. Jack also surprised with the selection of Santa Lucia, sung in Italian. He concluded with a snappy version of Steppin’ Out With My Baby, which he noted was instrumental in Bennett’s ‘90’s resurgence when it was shown on an MTV video.
The concert was well received and the band got a rousing ovation at its conclusion."

"Just a quick note of thanks for being a part of our wedding. We hope our guests took the time to compliment your group, but if they didn't, we heard many favorable comments about the music selection. [We] couldn't have been happier on how it went and I hope your fellow musicians enjoyed themselves as well."

"It has been a true pleasure working with The Jack Volpe Project to perform for our event. The song choice and tempo were perfect for our event and were just what we were looking for. Jack easily understood what tempo songs we wanted for the two seperate portions of our event. Not only were the other band members fantastic, but they all performed flawlessly together. Jack's voice added a unique and soulfull sound to the rest of the performaces. His planning, attention to detail and timing allowed me to enjoy the evening and the performances with our guests. Thank you Jack for making "Dancing on the Glass Ceiling" a night to remember!"

"Just wanted to thank you for the lovely and generous performance today at the Mother's Day Luncheon. You have a beautiful voice. We all loved listening to you. I could hear many of them singing along and reminiscing about the familiar tunes. I know you prepared for the event and we all appreciate the time and thoughtfulness that went into arranging the song list. I hope you enjoyed it as well! Thanks again and looking forward to hearing you in the future!" - Gretchen Y.

"Recently, Suffolk University celebrated its annual Science Banquet, a traditional event involving formal dress, a catered meal, and a special guest speaker. Being the Centennial year for the University (founded 1906) we opted to add some special touches, which included live music performed by the Jack Volpe Project both during the informal poster session preceding the dinner, and after the dinner speaker concluded.

Jack’s group provided an ideal selection of both classical and non-classical music that was appreciated by everyone. It was enjoyed by everyone without being too obvious – creating a comfortable ambience for all attending whether while discussing poster sessions, catching up on recent activities, or just making new connections. A number of attendees (especially couples) chose to linger in the open atrium just to savor the last strands of music / song well beyond the official closing of the banquet.

Afterwards I received many compliments about this banquet (I was the coordinator / organizer) being the Best Science Banquet ever held. Although not the exclusive factor, I definitely wish to give a tip of the hat to Jack for the excellence of his group. He was also a delight to work with from start to finish."

Jack Volpe (singer) founded the Jack Volpe Project in 2006. He recorded Unabashedly Retro with Brian Fitzpatrick. He is currently studying under the amazing Bulent Guneralp. Jacks performing experience spans jazz, blues, musical theatre, choral and dinner theater. His evocative baritone ranges from poignant to ebullient. Equally comfortable with ballads or up-tempo, he delights audiences with his rich tone and emotive interpretations. He brings the Great American Songbook to life with remarkable spirit and improvisational magic while always communicating his deep respect for the traditions and great vocal artists of the jazz genre especially Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald and Tony Bennett.

Stephanie Stone's (sax, flute, clarinet) musical studies began at a young age originally as a classical flutist and evolved into jazz along with the addition of the four saxes (alto, tenor, soprano, baritone) as well as the clarinet. She has formally studied music at the Berklee College of Music, Longy School of Music, and University of Miami from which she received her bachelor's degree in Music Therapy. She has studied and played professionally for the last 20 years in a variety of music groups ranging from classical, Big Band, jazz, R&B, and rock.
