Bio

“The Jacquelines” is a six-member band founded by singer/composer Iris Berardocco. Three singers & three musicians, all bandmembers studied jazz at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (Belgium). In October 2009, they started rehearsing together, while Iris wrote a new song every week. The most important influences were The Andrews Sisters, Louis Prima, Ella Fitzgerald & Sarah Vaughan. But Iris was also influenced by singer-songwriters, classical composers, rock & metal bands,... because good music exists in any style.

Before the start of The Jacquelines, the three singers, Iris Berardocco, Eva Buchmann & Sara Raes used to sing together with a big band. Frederik Madou, double-bass player & husband of Iris, accompanied the girls as they started doing small promotional gigs in Antwerp & Brussels. Then the band was completed with Stijn Wauters on piano & Jelle Van Giel on drums.

Soon, The Jacquelines played 2 or 3 gigs each month which allowed them to grow as a band. In the summer of 2011 they recorded their first album, which attracted the attention from Sony Music Belgium. In June 2012, after intensive thought & negotiating, Iris signed her first Artist Deal for the band.

The Jacquelines' first album, 'Gee Oh Gee', was released on January 25, 2013, and entered the Ultratop charts at 6. With this album, Iris Berardocco managed to create contemporary pop songs that refer to the vocal swing of the 40's. The somewhat daring song lyrics make The Jacquelines sound very personal & up-to-date.

Their first single, the unconventional "Hypochondria", was released on October 6, 2012; their second single, "Gee Oh Gee (Won't You Set My Fellas Free)", a support song for the LGBT community, was released on February 2, 2013. Both songs were in the A-rotation of Belgian national radio for months. Other succesful tunes were "Shiny Sara", "Dig me a hole", "Japanese Boogie" and "Don't Kill Your Darlings".

“The Jacquelines” also built up a strong live-reputation: their shows are very well received in theatres as well as on festivals.
