"Feel the Energy with Jam-Era"

Local band Jam-Era brings the soul with a “poppy-groovy” sound. The group, made up of vocalists Jamera Simmons and Tonee Michelle, guitarist Marcus David, bassist Alan Bland, drummer LaDeidra Caffey, and Chris Jefferson on keyboards, will dance into the night this week at Friday Night Live, Atlantic Station’s free weekly concert series.

A wide age range in Jam-Era’s members from 21 to 44 accounts for a mixed variety of influences from Lauryn Hill to Parliament Funkadelic to No Doubt, all adding up to a distinctive sound that Bland calls a “melting pot.” The live show consists mostly of current pop covers from artists like Maroon 5 and Rihanna, but Jam-Era makes them unique, often creating mash-ups with the lyrics from one song and the instrumental from another.

The sextet hasn’t yet recorded an album, but they are busy at work on original material. They plan to play five of their new songs at this week’s concert, which starts at 7 p.m.

Jam-Era strives to create a journey for its audience. “We attempt to tell an emotional story,” said Bland, saying Jamera will often act out various feelings throughout the show. “Energy is conveyed through the music,” he said. - midtown.patch.com/

Comprised of Jamera Simmons (vocalist), Chris Jefferson (keys), LaDeidra Caffey (drums), Marcus David (guitar), and Alan Bland (bass), JamEra has been winning followers all over the world for years.

With magnificent musicianship, sassy and soul felt vocals, and a melange of styles present on their energetic set, its not hard to see why many have already marked their arrival as a new era in pop music that bridges the gap between hip hop, rock, reggae, and soul.

JamEra’s debut unquestionably captures the sound of an eclectic movement – soulful, danceable, edgy, fun and with a heart so large fans know it could only come out of a band as ever growing as America’s own evolving musical journey.
