"25 Under 25 Most Influential Women on the Web 2012"

In a world where the internet is pretty much (sadly…maybe not so sadly) one of our best friends, it’s important to look at what we’re reading, seeing, commenting on and see who it’s being produced by. You want to learn about those people you spend time with offline, right? So isn’t it just as important to learn about those who are influential on the internet? Considering the fact that we’re an internet-reliant generation, I think the answer is a resounding yes! After all, there’s a good chance we’ll end up liking what internet “influencers” tell us to like, or that we’ll talk about what they’re talking about.

The interesting, amazing part of the internet is that age is really just a number. We’ve always been conditioned to believe that global success was only in-reach for people who have been working at it for years. But I’m going to have to disagree with common wisdom because, where the internet is concerned, often the younger you are the more influential you are. Here at CollegeCandy, we wanted to get familiar with the web’s most influential females. We looked at trends and numbers, listened to who you all were talking about, and came up with a list of who we felt were the biggest names out there.

So who are these 25 unbelievable young women, all under 25, who are changing the world and the way we see it…one tweet, comment, post and video at a time? - College Candy

"The 100 Best Songs of the Year, Part 4"

38. JANE DOZE, “YOUNG HEARTS WANNA BEAT ON THEIR OWN”

In the post-DJ Earworm era of mashups, you can’t draw headlines just for cramming together a bunch of good pop songs—you have to actually do a really, really good job at it. Jane Doze starts off “Young Hearts” with the brilliant idea of liberating the fantastic backing track from Katy Perry’s “Hummingbird Heartbeat,” replacing the verses with samples from will.i.am’s “Check It Out” and Whitney Houston’s always-appropriate “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”—already a decent recipe for success. But the key to the song’s success is the way it seamlessly mixes in similarly minded backing vocals from other contemporary pop gems—the “ooh-ooh-ooohs” from Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own,” the “yeah, yeah, yeah”s from The Naked and Famous’s “Young Blood” and the “your love, your love, your love”s from Ke$ha’s “Your Love is My Drug”—in a way that makes it all sound like it’s coming from the same root source. The result is a song as good as any of its component pieces—no small achievement for any pop tune, and a downright triumph for a mashup in 2011. —A.U. - Popdust

"BEHIND THE SCENES: WHO WHAT WEAR GAP STYLED.BY EVENT"

The beautiful Rozzi Crane (check her out in our Style.by catalog) serenaded the West Coast guests as they sipped on margaritas and toured the latest Gap collections, while DJ duo The Jane Doze provided the beats in Philadelphia - WhoWhatWear

"Killer Sounds & True Religion"

Nylon Magazine has partnered with denim brand True Religion to host a jammin' Lolla party like jams were going out of style. It'll happen on Saturday August 4, but you've got to RSVP by the 2nd, mmkay? It's a perfornace by Milo Greene and Kill Hannah, plus a DJ set by The Jane Doze at The Bottom Lounge in the Volcano Room on the 3rd floor - Racked - Chicago

"Miami's Not Done Obsessing Over Carly Rae Jepsen"

If you’re anything like us, your love for Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” has reached an unhealthy level. While the song’s major play day is wearing thin, the remixes are just reaching their full potential. Our recently found favorite is by The Jane Doze, an awesome female DJ mashup duo out of NYC that specializes in mixing all our favorite indie music with the likes of all the pop we secretly crave (and has spawned some celebrity fans, including that of Katy Perry and Pete Wentz). Dangerously likable creations, if you ask us, and all done with The Jane Doze's quotable tagline "Antler's Up". Skrillex, Porter Robinson, Jessie J, and Carly Rae Jepsen all take the fall for their recent ingenuity set forth in “Call Me J. Robinson” (so clever!), and you can hear it LIVE this weekend when the duo head up Miami at The Stage Saturday night with local DJ Troy Kurtz and rapping + violin talent LMJ (Yes, Miami is home to a rapping violin talent). A chance to dance our faces off to a rendition of “Call Me Maybe” in public? We wouldn’t miss it for the world. We’ve been practicing in the comfort of our own homes workspaces for a good time now, anyway. - Refinery29

"Kathleen Hanna, Le Tigre, The Julie Ruin, Odd Future & other Riot Grrrl news (movies, articles, events & stuff)"

Film trailers, dates and a mash-up of Tyler, the Creator's "Yonkers" and Tegan & Sara's "Call It Off" by The Jane Doze, below... - Brooklyn Vegan

"Listen! Rebecca Black and Katy Perry Duet!"

We’re lying. Rebecca Black and Katy Perry don’t have a new new song together (that’s Katy Perry and Kanye West, sillies!) but the two do have an amazing mash-up dedicated to — you guessed it — our fave day of the week. Friday! It’s a combo between Rebecca’s one-hit wonder song “Friday” and Katy’s “Last Friday Night,” appropriately titled “T.G.I Friday,” not to be mistaken for the restaurant chain. In case you were confused. - Teen.com

"Tegan and Sara, Tyler, the Creator Get Mashed Up"

Seamlessly blending Tegan and Sara's plaintive 'Call It Off' with Tyler's creaking 'Yonkers,' the Jane Doze's mash-up turns Tyler's shock-rap confessional into some emo, acoustic-backed "ranting and raving."

The visual draws even further parallels, concluding with a helpless, phone-cord wrapped Tegan, and a wriggling Tyler, hung by the neck against a white background.

Comprised of 20-something New Yorkers Jen Mozenter and Claire Schlissel, the Jane Doze have previously recorded mash-ups (yes, people still do those!) of Ratatat and Marvin Gaye, and Cults, Ke$ha and Tinie Tempah. - The Boombox

"For a lot of our mash-ups, we find inspiration in pop culture. We try to keep up with the latest news and gossip -- the best mashups tell a story. When we read about the exchange between Tyler, the Creator and Tegan and Sara, we couldn't resist putting the Jane Doze touch on it." - Spinner

"Lana Del Rey Takes on Calvin Harris in Video Mashup"

Well, we have the explosive world premiere of The Jane Doze‘s latest project. Titled “Born to Feel Beef,” the knock-down feature highlights breakout star Lana Del Rey‘s “Born to Die” and “We Found Love” collaborator Calvin Harris‘ tune, “Feel So Close.” Steve Aoki and Afrojack‘s “No Beef” as well as the vibrantly intriguing footage shot by Nick Thompson titled “Colourfornia” are fused together to create a wonderfully delightful mind warp. - Celebuzz

"Katy Perry, Robyn, Ke$ha Jane Doze Mashup = Best Song Ever"

We recently told you about the weirdly perfect Tyler, The Creator/Tegan And Sara mashup by The Jane Doze, "Tegan The Creator." But the New York-based remix duo has outdone themselves, like times a bajillion. No seriously, there are like, a bajillion songs in their latest mashup, "Young Hearts Wanna Beat On Their Own." And it's SO PERFECT. - MTV

"The Jane Doze - Girls Talk [Album]"

Fresh off their West Coast trip that included DJing a Grammy party, the lovely ladies of The Jane Doze have released Girls Talk - a 12 track album consisting of 6 unreleased and 6 released tracks. I've heard of the beauty Claire and Jen possess, but it is the gorgeous sounds of Girls Talk that really speak to me (pun intended). Each track is elegantly crafted in a manner that makes every song stand out. With the title of the album perhaps foreshadowing the focus of the vocal samples, Girls Talk is indeed rampant with female vocals. However, the selections aren't misplaced and serve to emphasize the beat and feel of the track. Of course, The Jane Doze still utilizes enough male vocals that when combined, creates near-perfect synergy. Case in point: "Glad You Raised Your Weapon" takes Greta Svabo Bech's vocals, from Deadmau5's "Raise Your Weapon", to establish a relaxed and captivating vibe before slightly raising the tempo and energy with The Wanted's "Glad You Came". It's this synergy that makes Girls Talk stand out as a mashup album of note. - Earmilk

"2012 BTR & 1D: Marvelous Mash-Up!"

BFF DJ duos The Jane Doze decided to create a mash-up of two of the guys’ best songs, making one really great mix that is fun to dance to and super catchy (maybe even catchier than the originals – if that’s even possible)! - Bop/Tiger Beat

"MASH-UP ALBUM: THE JANE DOZE - "GIRLS TALK""

Get it, Girls Talk? Because it’s a mash-up album, and also The Jane Doze is a duo of girls. Also “Doze” sounds like the plural of “doe,” like female deer, and Jane Doze’s logo is two girls with deer antlers. But female deer don’t have antlers, except in very, very rare cases when the female deer produces too much testosterone. This is not the point.

If you’re into fun, party-inducing amalgamations of familiar songs, you will enjoy this. - Pigeons and Planes
