"Localized Appreesh:"

"Have you heard its music? It's like an Eastern European circus took a folky Appalachian holiday. It's both quiet, classical bedtime story and traveling, rambling, carnival party."

"The song “Surfin Tzigane” off last year's self-titled EP is probably the most telling. With initially delicate Spanish-style strumming, it leads eventually to rowdy wet reverb – not out of place within a true-blue American surf rock Dick Dale track – and, laid over that, Bulgarian drumming and Turkish horn. It's world traveling from the ground-pillow comfort of your own intimate local music venue"

Brendan O'Loughlin and Justine Lucas started the The Jaunting Martyrs as a circus band 3 years ago, while they were traveling up and down the West Coast of the U.S.A. with various circus troupes. After providing live soundtracks for trapeze acts and fire eaters the two Martyrs decided to split off and do their own thing with the help of longtime friend and bassist Justin Boyle. The core of the band was complete in 2011 with the addition of clown school guitarist virtuoso Carlos Kampff, self-proclaimed horn playin' "payasa" Margarita Licon and cruise-ship burlesque drummer maniac Jimi Marks.

This “post-apocalyptic-Americarny-surf” band of Bay Area natives has endeavored to conquer San Francisco by combining various multi-regional styles of playing into one consistent, undeniably awesome world of sound.

They plan on extorting and bribing their way into a fully produced album, sometime before the clock strikes midnight on the planet in the year 2012.

Never mind the baby faces. This is a savage band.
