"THE JEFFERY BROTHERS BAND:"

Argentina Canal Trans (www.canaltrans.com )

Bio

The Jeffery Brothers

The Jeffery Brothers Band's debut EP, Splitting Headache, produced by Mark Berry (Headstones, Killjoys), hearkens back to an era of straight-up rock that existed before twins Josh and Nick Jeffery were even born. From the boisterous rock of "Splitting Headache" to the acoustic-based ballad, "Wishing," the trio, rounded out with bassist Andrew Hurst, delivers radio-ready rock.

"We were introduced to rock music back in the day," says 22-year-old frontman Josh. "My dad was a big Rolling Stones fan. We started to listen to his records and then got stuff from my uncles. AC/DC was the next big influence, then George Thorogood, ZZ Top, Molly Hatchet - we like the rock."

Born in Midland, Ontario, a small town north of Toronto, The Jeffery Brothers started working on original music when they were still in high school. The reason was simple: "it beats work," Josh laughs. "you get to see the world and meet new people, The initial plan was for Nick to play guitar and Josh to handle drums, but Nick beat him to the kit in grade 10. Besides, Josh had already pick up guitar a year earlier. "Neither of us took lessons," says Josh. "We used our own judgement on how to play." Josh would also sing. "Nicky's not the singing type," Josh explains.

The two not only entered school talent shows, but also played in their school band, The Academy Of Funk, and various others. Their music teacher, Mr. Henry, who had once worked with Vancouver's Grapes of Wrath, had a small eight-track recording studio in class, and allowed the students to demo. They also hooked up with a local studio called Mr. Digital. After recording some throwaway demos early in their band life, Nick contacted a friend in Nashville, TN, for some production reels. The most impressive, says Josh, belonged to Mark Berry, an American who had done aconsiderable amount of work in Canada in the nineties.

Checking into Toronto's Zolis Audio, with Berry and engineer Jim Zolis, The Jeffrey Brothers Band didn't have a third member, so they played all the parts
themselves - Josh on lead vocals, guitar and bass; and Nick on drums and background vocals.

They brought in five songs. The lead track, "Splitting Headache," has a distinctly old-school rock vibe, complete with guitar solo. "It's about everyday life -- just people bugging you," says Josh.

"Rock It Out," is self-explanatory, an upbeat song about having a good time, while "Flyin' High," is another happy tune. The ladies are drawn to the acoustic-based "Wishing", says Josh, and "Feelin' Fine" he penned about his "own feelings toward his
girlfriend."

The Jeffery Brothers added 20-year-old Andrew Hurst in the late 2003, after the completion of the Splitting Headache EP. And in the great tradition of Rush, The Tea Party and other famous Canadian rock acts, the line-up will remain a trio. Why?" We've had countless rhythm guitar players and they never worked"

Armed with the debut EP, The Jeffery Brothers Band has already started playing live in Ontario and will be hitting the road this summer for a cross-Canada tour.
