The Legend of Jhonny & Sallie

Written By: Jhonny & Sallie

The Legend of Jhonny & Sallie

Jhonny used to run through the neighborhood,
Doin’ all the things that young kid should,
Never caused a problem, never raised no fuss,
Said he was an orphan like the rest of us.

I remember the day like the back of my hand,
I remember the shirt that he wore,
Jhonny had the world in his right front pocket,
But it’s not that way, anymore..

Sallie worked weekends at the “gas and go“,
Took a ride a little south of no one knows,
She’d find her dream in a ticket for the lottery,
She‘d say “any kind of dream is the dream for me“.

I remember it all like it was yesterday,
She was standing at the back screen door,
Sallie held the ticket in her right shirt pocket,
But it’s not that way, anymore..

Sallie met Jhonny on a Saturday night,
Out on highway 40, it was love at 1st sight,
Jhonny found the trouble he was bound to find,
Sallie lost something near the county line.

He put his foot on the gas & his hand on the wheel,
& they drove to the package store,
They saw the rest of there lives from the front seat Lifes not that way, anymore…….

I remember that summer though I try to forget,
Their legend seems hard to ignore,
Sallie & Jhonny died with love on their hands,
But it’s not that way, no it’s not that way,
Life’s just not that way, anymore.

Written on your Face

Written By: Jhonny & Sallie

Written on Your Face
The 1st time I met you boy, there was no love around,
& no matter how I tried, there was none to be found,
But lately there’s a look in your eyes,
& it’s something that we just can’t deny,

Baby there’s love, written on your face,
And it something you can’t hide & I can’t erase.
Baby there’s love written on your face,
And it’s something you can’t buy & I can’t replace.
But now everybody can see, by the way your lookin’ at me,
Baby there’s love, written on your face.

Who would of ever dreamed of you & me?
They could of never seen what I can see,
Maybe it was there all the time?
Cuz they say sometimes love is blind….
Baby there’s love, written on your…..

Baby it’s alright if you hold my hand,
Maybe tonight? Baby if you can…

Baby there’s love, written on your face,
And it something you can’t hide & I can’t erase.
Baby there’s love written on your face,
And it’s something you can’t buy & I can’t replace.
But now everybody will know, by the way your lovin me so,
Baby there’s love, written on your face.

Doretta

Doretta
Doretta, Don’t you walk away,
Doretta, I’m beggin’ you to stay,
I said Doretta, all I need is you,
This beat up old guitar and a buck or two.

Doretta, won’t you change your mind,
Doretta, You’re not the leavin’ kind,
I said Doretta, wont you come in from the rain,
Dry your eyes girl & try my love again.

Don’t want to let you go,
Won’t ever cry again, I know……..Doretta……

Doretta, cant you see its true,
Doretta, those lonely nights are thru,
I said Doretta, you’re my destiny,
Because you hold my world in your hands,
Doretta, please don’t leave….

Somewhere in her Love

Written By: Jhonny & Sallie

Somewhere In Her Love

When I cant find some peace in macaroni,
When I cant reach the missing key to my success,
When I cant write a line that ain’t just all baloney,
I find it, Somewhere in her love.

When I cant tell, what kind of shirt looks better,
When I cant see, why the sun don’t always shine,
When I cant say, just because I cant remember,
I find it, Somewhere in her love.

Well the world may tell me that I’m off my rocker,
& there are days when things just couldn’t get much worse,
This may come to you as somewhat of a shocker,
Cause at times to me this seems just like a curse.

But when I cant find a reason,
when push just comes to shove,
I find it, Somewhere in her Love.

When I can’t find, some time for good intentions,
When I won’t recognize a reason just to breath,
When I don’t have the cents it takes to pay attention,
I find it, Somewhere in her love.

Love Always Wins

Written By: Jhonny & Sallie

Love Always Wins

When the world tries to treat you like a worn out tire,
& the morning’s just a kick in the shins,
They can tell you what they want,
but their just preaching to the choir,
Cuz love, love always wins.

When the truth is counterfeit & hope’s a failing success,
When your greeted with a blow below the chin,
You can wager what you want,
I’d bet the farm on just a guess,
Cuz love, love always wins.

Because Love Always wins, Love Always Wins,
Don’t you say that you can only sing the blues,
Because, Love Always wins, Love Always Wins,
When love always wins, you never lose..

If it’s looking like your chances are just wishes gone wild,
If it seems your dreams are in the bargain bin,
Don’t you ever stop believin’ its the faith of a child,
That makes Love, Love Always win….

You & Me Baby & a Saturday Night

Written By: Jhonny & Sallie

There’s gonna be dancing down at the union hall,
A full moon hangin in the sky,
Half the town will be havin a ball,
With the other half askin why?

Jhonny) So shine up your cowboots,
(Sallie) straighten up your collar,
(Jhonny) I’ll get all spruced up,
(Sallie) that makes me hoop & hollar,
(Jhonny) I’ll look dapper & dandy,
(Sallie) You’ll make some sweet eye candy,
Hop in the truck & go hit the heights,
Cuz it’s you & me baby, & a Saturday Night.

Well we worked all week just to pays some bills,
Till the brain‘s just bout 1/2 gone,
I say it’s time we find a few cheap thrills,
Till we right the heck out a wrong.

(Jhonny) So put on your perfume,
(Sallie) Get your fancy neck tie,
(Jhonny) Time to cowboy up,
(Sallie) I say that sounds just fine,
(Jhonny) I’ll try to look real smart,
(Sallie) I say be still my heart,
Lets hop in the truck & go hit the heights,
Cuz it’s you & me baby, & a Saturday Night.

There’s gonna be dancing down at the union hall,
Lets break out the home made wine,
There’s a hoe down & a square dance call,
Gonna be a rootin tootin time.

What a Fool {a Fool Can Be}

Written By: Jhonny & Sallie

What a Fool {a Fool Can Be}

Well you told me, that he hurt you,
And how he broke your heart in two,
& the more you tried, the more you cried,
For someone who was untrue.

& the sadness, that I see on you,
Is the sadness that I see on me,
Cuz I know what a fool a fool, can be.

And there’s a burden, that you carry,
That just ain’t worth its weight,
Cuz if her love has gone, she’s done you wrong,
Your heart, has sealed its fate.

& if she left you, somewhere in lonely town,
I live just down the street,
Cuz I know what a fool a fool, can be.

So take it, from someone who knows of heartache,
Whoa take it, from someone who knows of pain,
I suppose someday that a rainbow, will be shinning over me,
But tonight I know what a fool a fool can be.

I suppose were not, the only lonely heart,
That ever felt this blue,
But since were here, could we share a tear,
I may still have a few.

And if it’s quite ok, be it suffice to say,
That this fool that set you free,
Knows what a fool a fool, can be..
