Bio

Andrew Dalrymple and Adam Weir started a jazz-funk project called “JiveCrank” in Seoul, Korea - along with Kenny Thompson (Tenor Sax) - during early 2005 while they were all ex-pats living and working overseas. After breaking into the jazz scene in Seoul, the trio became known as the source of original jazz-funk music. In late 2006 After a successful year and a half and after releasing their first full length LP “Room to Groove”, Andrew and Adam decided to move the band to Melbourne and thus parted ways with the great Kenny Thompson.
While residing in the Australian music capital of Melbourne, the band re-spawned as “The JiveCrank.” Over the next 3 years they gained valuable experience while playing alongside great Australian bands such as The Cat Empire and The Bamboos. In this time the band became very versatile and unique - performing as a Trio, a 5-piece, an 9-piece and an 11-piece band.
After playing in the scene for 3 years, something didn't feel right. The sound that they were trying to create and perform did not have the following that it does in North America. Not to mention the difficulties with visas to be able to live and play in Australia. The decision was made to bring the JiveCrank to Canada and the U.S. The JiveCrank is looking forward to writing the next chapter while making a huge impact on the north American music scene.
