Lyrics

We're The Enemy

Written By: John Kasper

Land of the free, home of the brave A nation cries old glory waves
What will it take until we see?
That after all we're the enemy

I'm tired of hatred, I'm tired of war
I'm tired of killing when we're really not sure what for
God bless America we're not to blame
Do you think cares when we’re killing in his name?

Land of the free, home of the brave A nation cries old glory waves
What will it take until we see?
That after all we're the enemy

We pledge allegiance to corporate greed
And we will kill for the right to control all the oil we need
We’ll reap what we sow an eye for an eye
Will you think it's right when it's your child that dies?

Land of the free, home of the brave A nation cries old glory waves
What will it take until we see?
That after all we're the enemy

Do as we say, not as we do
If you don't then the time will come when we come for you
Silence is sinful , we’ve got to take a stand
Or repeat the mistakes we made in Vietnam

Land of the free, home of the brave A nation cries old glory waves
What will it take until we see?
That after all we're the enemy

Don't Think Twice

Written By: John Kasper

Don’t think twice, about the life you lead
Must be nice, that someone else will bleed
Fear is all around, terror’s on the rise
The stars and stripes a waving fills our patriotic hearts with pride
Don’t think twice

Don’t think twice, about the wars we wage
Don’t compromise, no that’s a big mistake
Freedom’s on the march, God is on our side
Be sure to say a prayer for those courageous souls we’ve sacrificed
Don’t think twice

Don’t think twice, about the lives we take
Wrong or right, it’s got to be our way
These colors never run; we’re not afraid to fight
Especially if someone else is gonna have to pay the price
Don’t think twice

Don’t think twice, it isn’t up to you
Close your mind; pretend it’s just not true
So that we may live, thousands have to die
Say the pledge and tell yourself that we were surely justified
Don’t think twice

The American Way

Written By: John Kasper

Born in 1987, Mammas’ little slice of heaven
She said I think we’ll name him Kevin, what a truly blessed day
Send him off to church on Sunday, and he’ll go to college someday
We’ll have to find the money someway, it’s the American way

Shock and awe is pretty thrilling, and there’s lots of oil for drilling
Don’t worry about the blood we’re spilling, they had it coming anyway

So go ahead and bomb the village, go ahead and rape and pillage
You know we’re pretty good at killing, it’s the American way

Lost her husband John in 04’, nothing to show for all they worked for
Kids can’t go to college no more; all your dreams have slipped away
You want a life that’s filled with purpose, so you’ll go and join the service
Son don’t let that make you nervous, it’s the American way

Shock and awe is pretty thrilling, and there’s lots of oil for drilling
Don’t worry about the blood we’re spilling, they had it coming anyway

So go ahead and bomb the village, go ahead and rape and pillage
You know we’re pretty good at killing, it’s the American way

Read the letter that his wife sent, got hungry headed for the mess tent
Woke up wondering where his legs went, they were just here yesterday
Now he’s back home with his loved ones, but his life aint very much fun
Suck it up you’ll be ok son, it’s the American way

Shock and awe is pretty thrilling, and there’s lots of oil for drilling
Don’t worry about the blood we’re spilling, they had it coming anyway

So go ahead and bomb the village, go ahead and rape and pillage
You know we’re pretty good at killing, it’s the American way

Don’t put the pictures on the TV; they won’t question what they don’t see
Don’t you know that freedom aint free? hell somebody has to pay
It don’t pay to scream and holler, rich folks going to keep their dollars
Poor folks going to live in squalor, it’s the American way

Shock and awe is pretty thrilling, and there’s lots of oil for drilling
Don’t worry about the blood we’re spilling, they had it coming anyway

So go ahead and bomb the village, go ahead and rape and pillage
You know we’re pretty good at killing, it’s the American way

Conspiracy of Silence

Written By: John Kasper

Disturbing visions of flag-covered coffins each day
United we stand while they're warring our future away
The spin doctors dance while our young men continue to die
All for the sake of the corporate American pie

It's a conspiracy of silence and it's breaking us down
In a conspiracy of silence the truth won’t be found

The president seems to have dangerous thoughts in his head
His war-minded handlers are pushing him over the edge
Protecting the interests of all their industrial friends
The sins of the father repeating all over again

It's a conspiracy of silence and it's holding us down
In a conspiracy of silence the truth can't be found

It's time we demanded they answer the questions they've dodged
And make them give back to us all of the freedoms they've robbed
The seeds of big brother have started to take root and spread
And if we don't rise up we'll find our democracy's dead

It's a conspiracy of silence and it's keeping us down
In a conspiracy of silence the truth can't be found

It's a conspiracy of silence and it's breaking us down
In a conspiracy of silence the truth won’t be found

Election Day

Written By: John Kasper

You sure smile a lot, you sure lie a lot
Are you the best we’ve got?
Our country’s gone to pot
I hope you’ll fade away before Election Day

Just where do you stand? What exactly is your plan?
Is it real change you’ll bring?
Or will you say anything?
Just so I’ll vote your way come Election Day

I long for once upon a time
When I was proud to live here in this land of mine
We’ve got to save the USA
Before it’s too late

Don’t want your tyranny or corporate charity
Give me liberty
You dare not tread on me
Or there’ll be Hell to pay on Election Day

I long for once upon a time
When I was proud to live here in this land of mine
We’ve got to save the USA
Before it’s too late

Bring back dignity and integrity
Put an end to poverty
And all the war we see
For all these things I’ll pray come Election Day

You Remind Me A Lot Of John Prine

Written By: John Kasper

It’s been 3 years that we’ve been together
I’m wondering what’s taking so long
Each time I think things are better
We’re right back where we don’t belong
It seems that we’re taking a couple steps forward
But ending up three steps behind
The way you make me laugh and
The way you make me cry
You remind me a lot of John Prine

Like a bull in a shop full of china
I always seem to forge on
But sometimes I wonder if I’d have
Been better off if I’d been gone
There’s only so many hairs I can pull out
Before I go out of my mind
The way you make me cry
You remind me a lot of John Prine

There’s times when I think I can’t take anymore
Others I’m like a kid in a candy store
It’s a wild ride we’re taking let’s slap on the brakes
And see if we’ve got what it takes

Sometimes you leave me in stitches
And others you bring me to tears
Some days you’re my rags to riches
And others the sum of my fears
I tell you I love you and you don’t believe me
That tears me up time after time
The way you make me laugh and
The way you make me cry
You remind me a lot of John Prine

Love Just Out Of Reach

Written By: John Kasper

Here we are a world apart five feet away
Wordlessly we stand here on the brink
Seems that we've both said all that we're gonna say
Guess no one wants to be the first to blink

Asking for the truth but only telling lies
We never seem to practice what we preach
You and I could never seem to compromise
That left us with a love just out of reach

Reach out for me and I'll be there
One touch could lead to our hearts repair
Life's lessons learned we just can't teach
Left us with love just out of reach

What began as glances now intensifies
Fantasy became reality
We wont have to try real hard to justify
What we've gone and done to you and me

We're both going to have our share of doubt and pain
Wondering if the others going to cheat
We'll just have to try and learn and trust again
Or be left with love just out of reach

Reach out for me and I'll be there
One touch could lead to our hearts repair
Life's lessons learned we just can't teach
Left us with love just out of reach
