"Dont Let Them Fool You - Review"

This five piece outfit from adelaide have certainly put together a great metal EP which inculdes some great technical guitar riffing mixed with a varity of heasd banging breakdowns, aggressive but at times melodic vocals and a lot of drum bashing to boot.

This band is great for anyone who loves heavy music, but doesnt like to listen to the same shit over and over. Well worth buying. GM

Score 7/10

"Bottles Thrown At Police"

THE vandalism and anti-social behaviour displayed by the region's youth at Saturday's Metal Xtravaganza concert was enough to scare even the toughest heavy metal bands from Adelaide.

Bottles and rocks thrown at band members and police, broken windows and cars doing circle work in the car park were some of the low points of the evening.

The organisers of the concert and local police are equally disappointed with the behaviour of some of the young people at the Lions Hostel on Saturday night.

"We had no idea it was going to turn out like it did and we've never seen anything like it before in Adelaide," organiser Steve Webster of Adelaide said.

"The sad thing for the people who were there to listen to the music is that once word gets out, there are not going to be too many bands wanting to go over that way."

Police were taken by surprise when as many as 500 people turned up for the concert.

They were concerned they were not notified of the event that featured four Adelaide bands as well as local bands from Port Lincoln and Whyalla.

Mr Webster said the Metal Xtravaganza concert held on Friday night in Whyalla was free of the aggression and mayhem displayed the next night in Port Lincoln.

The damage to the hostel comes at a time when it was recovering from the January 11 bushfire.

Lions Hostel caretakers Bob and Gail Adler at times feared for their safety.

Lions Hostel caretaker Bob Adler who was besieged that night by the youths outside his home said he felt physically ill the next day when he surveyed the broken windows and litter strewn over the grounds.

"I really felt quite sick," said Mr Adler, who the night before had to call police several times when the crowd failed to disperse.

Mr Webster said he and the bands decided to leave shortly before midnight as soon as they had finished playing because of concerns for their own safety.

They returned on Sunday morning to help the caretaker clean up the property.

Unfortunately for the future of live music in the city, police are looking to hold someone accountable with charges against the organisers a possibility.

Sergeant Swalue alleged organisers did not hold the necessary licence and that security did not function properly with police most concerned about rocks being thrown at a police car, underage drinking and fights.

Organisers said they did not realise a licence was necessary as no alcohol was served.

Police first became aware of the concert when someone at the event called for assistance at about 9.15pm worried that a fight between two groups was going to break out, Sergeant Swalue said.

Patrols monitored the area until the early hours of Sunday morning with one person given an expiation notice for cannabis possession.

"We are urging organisers of these events to liaise with local police to see if adequate security and permits are in place," Sergeant Swalue said.

"And most importantly owners of properties are warned that they do have a responsibility to ensure the safety of patrons on their premises."
