"University of Pittsburgh sophomores and Erie natives Hans Lorei and Alex Keim grew up on classic rock. They also get a thrill out of rock-funk bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and 311.With Channel 4, they explore both passions, creating a bright, exciting rock-funk blend that's surprisingly accomplished and, fully realized, it's an infectious combination that helps their brash, tuneful songs appeal as much to classic-rock fans as jam-band ones. That explains how they could play Chaffee Gathering, but also snare opening slots for Big Brother and the Holding Company at Docksider and the Jefferson Airplane/Starship Galactic Reunion show at Liberty Park. 'The thing I really love about playing our music is getting people dancing, who can range from age 3 to age 65,' Lorei said. 'That's why we do it.'
Channel 4 has a knack for writing dynamic, well-constructed songs with strong, surging hooks. It's mightily appealing stuff-with a hint of Southern-rock guitar styling and vocal harmonies-that could easily appeal to fans of Rob Thomas' latest CD, as well as Black Crowes, Blind Melon, Sweet Vine, or Skynryd, for that matter."
